  The only problem I've is with you concluding examples. Cases involving all wrongdoers are sent to courts, whether the accused are MPs, ministers and what have you. It is the same judges who subjectively interpret the laws to favour them.
  
  Take the bungalow bought by Jake for example, govt workers are stranded for accommodation, what then motivates the same govt to sell its own bungalows?
  
  It matters not who commits the crime and who is voted for, the judges remain the judges. Politically appointed judges often give very very subjective rulings that tends to mock justice. Let's pray for justice to prevail so that the SADA pen thieves and baby stealers will all be held accountable.

Is it that only the petty thieves that deserve this retrogressive punishments or you and your like; politicians, who twist the laws, rob us dry, run to add tags and get away free also face the same justice. Woyome is even laughing at you, KT Hammond did his acting and is home free. How many years has any politician stayed in prison? Your like are even strategic weapon arm robbers and yet at worse you get three years: six months and you are out. Is that justice?

  A friend once told me when discussing laws, I should take them as humorous. Laws are made with a clear knowledge and understanding by the law makers that, the would be broken by all including themselves if they have to. To excuse themselves, they made the punishments selective. Since their faults would be bigger and not frequented, they make sure the punishment for minor stuff which would be broken many times receive the heaviest penalties and the ones which they will be culpable off, get a pat on the shoulder. To enjoy their cushion, you should learn to redefine laws as an act to " LIE- ALL -WAYS " and use any imaginable trick you can think of to be the best at doing it. Petty law breakers are always and mostly caught red handed and cannot hide or lie and so must be punished. Your best bet is to make a trade likened to what they( law makers ) do, and you will not get that 45 years. Now my dear unthinking petty law breakers, if you want to enjoy your trade, do it the BIG TIME way and all will be alright 'coz the law loves and respects only the big timers.

  My fellow, OKATAKYIE SARPONG, I do not have professional legal knowledge on this subject of crime and punishment. However, in my lay person's view of this sentencing 'disproportionality', the huge variations in sentencing the Phone Robber for 45yrs and the Cassava thief for 10yrs shows that sentencing is not solely for the purpose of time behind bars, nor sentencing should necessarily reflect/fit the crime. Sentencing has both symbolic and practical function.
  
  Looking at the broader picture, I think 45yr for the Phone Robber was about sending a clear message to Armed Robbers. In this particular case, the convicted criminal was in possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Apart from this offence, the judge took into account his previous conviction/offence. This makes the Phone Robber a danger to the public. However, I believe the Judge considered the Cassava theft as a 'petty crime', hence, the 10yrs.
  
  Interestingly, we might be more impressed if the country's corrupt politicians and their partners in crime [cronies] a la Agambire and other SADA officials went to jail for their costlier 'robbery' of this country. Given that Cassava thief gets 10yrs but there's lack of punishment for corrupt politicians and their cronies, that tells you that Ghana is political fraudsters' paradise. First of all, Ghanaians tolerate do tolerate political criminality. We support our corrupt politicians to escape justice because they come from our region, ethnic group/tribe and as members of our political parties. We re-elect them to political power.
  
  How long has the Woyome case been going on? The Woyome case and the SADA corruption scandals are the result of political collusion. Such fraudulent/corrupt elements are protected by the ruling Government.
