NO DOUBT WHEN NKRUMAH INITIATED THE FIGHT FOR INDEPENDENCE WITH THE SLOGAN "INDEPENDENCE NOW" AND WON INDEPENDENCE, JB DANQUAH AND HIS CO-TRAITOR, BUSIA, FLEW TO BRITAIN TO ASK THE QUEEN TO WITHDRAW THE INDEPENDENCE FOR GHANA.
BUSIA CONTINUED WITH HIS CONSPIRACY AGAINST NKRUMAH AND GHANA BY GOING INTO VOLUNTARY EXILE IN OXFORD TO LINK WITH THE CIA. IN OXFORD, BUSIA RECRUITED AFRIFA WHO HAD BEEN SENT TO SANDHURST BY NKRUMAH FOR MILITARY TRAINING AFTER COMPLETING SIXTH FORM IN ADISADEL COLLEGE.
JB DANQUAH AND BUSIA WILL GO DOWN IN OUR HISTORY AS TRAITORS WHO CONSPIRED WITH THE CIA TO OVERTHROW NKRUMAH AND REVERSE GHANA'S DEVELOPMENT.

Fact,I know that is not your name, but anyway. One fact we must all get about foreign recruits at Sandhurst is that the moment you graduate, your allegiance is not to your country, but to the queen of England! Why, because the military cap that goes with the uniform has the British crown, and not that of your country.
Flashback: During the civil war in sierra Leone, Johnny Paul Koromah, one of the youngest, brilliant military officers in Africa had a standoff with his enemies. Guess what? The king of Jordan, a mate of Koromah at Sandhurst, sent down troops to help him and not Sierra Leone. It was a distress call to a friend, and not a nation.
This explains why Kotoka took part in the coup! Some might call him a traitor, but this is to tell all of us that whenever we send any military officer for training there, we must think twice.

IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAW JB DANQUAH WAS DETAINED AND AS A HUMAN BEING CERTAIN PRECAUTIONS WERE PUT IN PLACE TO PROTECT NKRUMAH. IN TOTAL SEVEN BOMB ATTEMPTS ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WERE MADE TO ASSASSINATE NKRUMAH.
NOBODY WAS DETAINED FOR LIFE OR SENTENCED TO DEATH.
ONE-PARTY STATE IS AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD OF GOVERNANCE. NO SYSTEM OF GOVERNANCE IS PERFECT. ONE-PARTY SYSTEM HAS ITS MERITS AND DEMERITS.
THE MULTI-PARTY SYSTEM WE ARE NOW OPERATING IS NOT PERFECT. YOU SHOULD GO AND RESEARCH ON THE MERITS AND DEMERITS OF ONE-PARTY SYSTEM AND MULTI-PARTY SYSTEM.
ON THE CONTRARY, NKRUMAH DAYS WERE AN ERA OF "WORK AND HAPPINESS" IN GHANA. THERE WAS VIRTUALLY NO UNEMPLOYMENT IN GHANA. ALL GHANAIANS, INCLUDING THE POOR ENJOYED FREE EDUCATION AND FREE MEDICAL CARE.NKRUMAH DAYS WERE APTLY CALLED "THE GOOD OLD DAYS" BECAUSE NKRUMAH MADE LIFE EASY FOR US.
PRICES WERE LOW PARTLY BECAUSE WE WERE PROCESSING RAW MATERIALS LOCALLY.
THERE WAS NO TRIBALISM IN GHANA; WE ALL REGARDED OURSELVES AS GHANAIANS; NOT ASANTE, EWE........... AS WE SEE NOW.ALL BLACKS OVER THE WORLD IDENTIFIED THEMSELVES WITH GHANA.
GHANAIANS WERE GLOBALLY RESPECTED
AND I REMEMBER A NIGERIAN WHO WAS DOMICILED IN EUROPE WAS ONCE ASKED IN EUROPE "IN WHICH PART OF GHANA IS NIGERIA" WHEN HE SAID HE HAILED FROM NIGERIA.
SUCH WAS THE GREATNESS OF GHANA UNDER NKRUMAH.

Hello,
Kwadwo, brave yourself. More of these are coming your way.
I am not praising the man. These are merely a summary of some of his major achievements.
I do read several of your comments all the time praising JB Danquah, an infamous terrorist and a well-known CIA agent. I don't complain because that is your right.
Besides, his children do not have to praise him. Others have to that. This should tell you how modest his children are.
In fact Samia referred to her father as "our father" when she gave a presentation in Philadelphia, USA, a couple of years back.
Nkrumah's the father of all Africans, not the terrorist and CIA agent, JB Danquah. Who cares about JB Danquah?
Americans talk about Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, all the time, so do South Africans talk about Nelson Mandela.
Join me celebrate the great achievements of "Africa's Man of the Millenium," "2000 Personality of the Century," "Second Greatest African of all Time,' etc.
I will love every African leader to be like this "Greatest African."
Have fun and expect more of this. Check the other commentators. Not everyone is complaining.
Anyway, who doesn't love the great Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah? Everyone does. Please allow me and others to enjoy ourselves. I am having a good time on Ghanaweb, Brother or Sister Kwadwo.
Finally, this is a man I will praise till my death! Get use to it! NKRUMAH NEVER DIES!

What I can add to this piece is that a cross section of Ghanaians who are in doubt as to whether Nkrumah deserved to be overthrown should bear one thing in mind that there is this slogan that “Americans have permanent interest, but not permanent friends.” So the local involvement did not yield much results for them, ie the UP tradition.
Busia may not have completed his term due to Kutu Acheampong’s entry. The question now is, why is the UP/NPP silent on this issue? Are we being made to understand that Acheampong never stepped on any toes when he kicked out Busia? There was massive jubilation. The 2012 supreme court election verdict has given Ghanaians a saying that “you and I were not there.” But as for this, I was there! I recall the Ga slogan “Busia naabu kpontiii tomo loly (lorry) tie (tyre).” To wit, Busia’s thick lips are like that of a lorry’s tyre! He surely did have thick beautiful lips anyway. If Acheampong had used terrorist tactics to remove Busia, ie throwing of bombs and other explosives, I don’t know what the UP/NPP would be writing today. Would they write at all, since their focus is on Nkrumah, who jailed JB Danquah.
The UP/NPP should now that tyrants, despots, and dictators do not jail their opponents who are reported to have resorted to violence, but would rather execute them. If Danquah has been tied to the stakes and shot, only God knows the kind of books would line our bookstores today.
There’s a problem with our so called educated elite. None of them is interested in becoming authors. In zooming down to Ghana, most of our MPs were once teachers. They think that their education is a passport to political elevation. That was the problem Nkrumah had with his opponents. In referring to The Encyclopaedia Africana vol 2, it is stated that Danquah, Busia & co saw political office as their birthright, and saw this Nzema nonentity was a major standing block. People like these would never have given Bill Gates a chance if he were Ghanaian.
If the NPP will not restrain their Alsatians, Terriers, Bulldogs, etc on Nkrumah, then those of us observing the political game from the sidelines will not raise a single voice in their favor. The NPP should let sleeping dogs lie and concentrate on winning elections.
If you are to ask me what my tradition is as a Ghanaian, well, I will say if I want to marry a woman I have spotted, I will inform my parents through some funny body language, and they will get the “lie” that I’m in love. So what is the tradition of the NPP? Somebody should please help!!

Thery do have their lives to live by the way. Just read the the Eulogy of Samia a small kid's memory about a father and his death and it was as vivid and telling as if one was there or it was just yesterday and it captured the love Samia had for her father and the shear intelligence of this lady in her write-up posted on Ghanaweb was just amazing.
When she wrote how her father fought an insider security guard a police man planted in the flagstaff house whose job was to tske Dr Nkrumah out but Nkrumah the President had to fight for his own life by himself until the time that other trusted police came to arrest the JB Danquah mole pretending to be a presidential guard. A report that was very telling of the matemho times Ghana was in.
Is this what the NPP want to resurrect with their "all die be die" mantra and insults all over the place. The numerous fires that keep devastating our markets killings and dynamites being planted in electric sub- stations today? Mahama will have to put his foot down and very hard.

Samia admits she didn't really know her father. She was too young when he was overthrown and after that they went to live in Egypt and the father was in Conakry.
Me I remember when Samia was born. It was in Daily Graphic (Even Times was called Graphic, then). What I also remember was the president travelling and the children in white at the airport. Nkrumah travelled a lot. When Fathia came, many Ghanaians gave the name Fathia to their children. I think some also named their children Samia but the man was overthrown shortly after Samia was born. It is the eldest son and Sekou who remain in the memory of those of us who were children then. These were the president's children and to us kids, they looked like little angels. I don't think even Sekou will remember his father as president of Ghana much. He was too young. The eldest boy will.
Gee, those days in Ghana were completely different. Things were good. Nkrumah was respected and feared by every Ghanaian. He spoke often to the nation on radio and his dawn broadcasts became legendary. He said our elders talked to us at dawn so he addressed the nation at dawn. Nkrumah was a good speaker but at the UN and in his meeting with President Kennedy, he was very careful in his speech and was speaking slowly.
Oh, those days in Ghana... Oh, our Ghana! Our blessed land that has now gone to thieves calling themselves leaders!

Kafui, do you remember a few days after Nkrumah was overthrown all his books were burned? They told us to bring all his books, speeches, addresses, fotos, CPP material and everything about Nkrumah in the libraries and especially Information Services (which had offices in every village) and we burnt all these books. Throughout the entire country, Nkrumah's books were burned. I remember the teachers told us to bring the Nkrumah autobiography for students and we threw them into the fire.
Today, these books are hard to get. We destroyed them all. We didn't know we were destroying our own heritage. Whether the man was good or not, he was still a very important part of our history and the struggle for independence.
Today if you go to Nkrumah's Musuem at the Old Polo Grounds, the material there is laughable. We destroyed everything about him and we don't have much to put in his own museum.
That's how we are.

Just look at the quantum of books Dr Nkrumah wrote in his time and had all of them published as scholarly works.
If recent Doctoral graduates of Ghana who studied abroad could publish one scientific book each to be put in our libraries in Ghana our kids would have learnt something little to get Ghana out of poverty.
Remember these books were published, qualitatively edited in the era of no internet and computers or word processors except typewriters but they remain scientific works and valid overwhelmingly today. Long after those struggles have become vintage but still should have been read everyday as an eye opener to Ghana youth and Africans.
As an economist I think Nkrumah was very dextrious in all fields of a country's development.
In Class one and first day at school we were greated by our teachers, after assembly where there was Ghana flag hoisted in every school every morning.
On the first day every pupil received tons of books and stationery and a hamper of Ghana chocolates and greetings from the President Nkrumah. As kids we were told he would have loved to be here himself but..... And we appreciated the whole atmosphere to be in a Ghana school and in our little hearts felt we had to study hard while in school.
Unfortunately, in Ghana today I doubt if kids feel the same way about our leaders who only go on radio and insult each other.
There no sense of direction or purpose.

Captein, do you remember all the book supplies we received free? Exercise books, fountain pens, bottles of ink (Lions Ink), blotting paper, chalk, duster, pencils, erasure, maths, english books, etc. Even the teachers too received note books free. Oxford English Course books 1 to 7. Remember Sam Danso the lory driver (class 2?) And Abdul (class 4?) Then Red Book and Blue Book and Fundamentals of English Language in Middle School.
Oh, those days were good.
Even in secondary school, text books were free from S1 to S5 and Sixth Form was completely free - no fees for boarding students.
Hospital too was free oo, It was free for everybody living in Ghana. I mean everybody living there - whether you were Togolese, Upper Voltarian, Nigerian, it doesn't matter. Everything was free for you in Ghana. There was no discrimination against other African citizens - and no tribalism. Nooooo tribalism at all...

We must not discount the contribution of Dr Joseph Boakye Danquah, the rest oof the big six and others. In 1928 when little was known of African philosophy Danquah's work "Akan laws and customs and the constitution of Akim (Akyem) Abuakwa" convinced the Africans, the British and the world at large that the people of Ghana (Gold Coast) were ready for self government.
As one of the few African members of the legislative assembly he vehemently opposed the British decision to setup only one university for British West Africa in Nigeria. His action led to the decision to setup the University of Ghana - Legon.
All this was before Nkrumah came to the scene. It must be placed on record that Danquah was not an Ashanti. Dr J B Danquah was an Akyem.
But we must also not forget the immense contribution Nkrumah made. When J B Danquah was the presidential candidate (leader) of the UGCC, Kwame Nkrumah was the general secretary who had just arrived totally oblivious of the foundation that has been laid and the people who laid the foundation. When J. B. Danquah after schooling in Britain was working for African progress in the 1920s Nkrumah was a teenager trying to distinguish his left from his right.
It would be silly to suggest in any quarters that the carpenter working on the third floor of a building did more work than the people who laid the cornerstone, the foundation.
J. B. Danquah did play his part.

Same thing happened to some Pan African anthropologists who published books on the origin of the African race, as well as the part Africans played in biblical times, which proved that a lot of those stories involved black tribes, even including the twelve tribes of Israel. Now some white supremacists millionaires bought the books and set fire to them. Some of those anthropologists died under strange circumstances.

This coward (Kumasi Fort), murderer (Apedwa) and terrorist (Kulungugu) Akim JB Danquah is only known in Ghana; the weak Akim tribe's golden man
- the evil man who put impediments in the way of Kwame Nkrumah; and to eventually kill him, to leave Ghana in a hole from where Ghana is still digging
-- through out Africa, and universally, no one ever heard of this Akim JB Danquah; thus, how come that he is the "greatest African"?
- the writer of the article needs his head examined; and if sane enough to get educated

Our greatest mistake is that as a nation, we are trapped in the past; we are not future focused.
We barely think of tomorrow. Kwame Nkrumah was the exception: everything he did and said was directed at making our future better.
The question is what would it take for our nation to acquire this all important futures perspective?
If we don't, we'll continue to wallow in abject poverty, mediocrity and self- deprecating insults, which to me is, extremely counterproductive.

Who doesn't know that Nkrumah only loved women with light skin (or fair coloured women). He hated African women with black skin colour so much so that he sent his friend to Egypt and find him a fine fair coloured woman.
And that Nkrumah looked on dark/black skinned African women as female 'apes' fit for use only as women organisers to spread their cloths on the streets for him to walk on, and then be rewarded with political positions?.
It looks like your Nana Addo, JB Danquah's nephew has a dark skinned wife right?
