If there is a consequence for ill-advised action, all the people involved will take notice. So far people in authority act irresponsibly and, in some cases, criminally but they do not pay any price for their actions. Unless people know that they will pay a dear price for bad behavior, they will continue to behave badly.
Taiwanese students are demonstrating to force the resignation of their president, because the government signed a pact with China to open up just a small sector of the service market to the Chinese. Use social media to get students, the clergy and workers to take to the streets and demonstrate to let the government know that the EPA is not in the interest of Ghana and West Africa, and that the government will pay dearly if it signed the pact.
A major factor in this whole EPA equation is the parliament. Unless parliament ratifies the pact, it will not be legally binding. So the parliament must be dissuaded from ratifying the pact. There can also be legal action to stop the government from signing the pact. These agitations will give the government the courage not to sign the EPA. Short of these agitations, the government feels cornered and cannot on its own refuse to sign the EPA.
The demonstrations will not be against the government but as support for the government to refuse signing the pact.

The average Ghanaian does not know what the benefits are. Those against the EPA need to do more work by publishing simple to understand articles supported with facts and figures to highlight the advantages of not signing up.

Mere talk is not enough to discourage a fool or a thief. They must be shown that actions entail reactions. If Ghanaians just keep talking, we will find our futures compromised by leaders who care very little about us. All around the world, people have taken to the streets to compel govts to do the right thing. It is time for Ghanaians to get out and save their sovereignty and future aspirations.
