Dr. Bokor, excuse me say that with your length of study and may be your book knowledge, your article concludes that not all people with book knowledge have wisdom. Getting back to what Mr. Mahama said in Kumasi recently which has become a hot topic in the country, no sensible and respected Head of State will travel anywhere in the country to spill that unguarded comments. His comment need condemnation, period.

You are trying to massage his silly comment which if left unchecked, he will continue going round and talking rubbish. About couple of weeks back, he went to Eastern Region and spew such nonsense that has become his communication pattern that "Kibi is Galamsey Headquarters". By the way in your own sense of thinking, if the country is abound with job opportunites, whom do you think will go and do such tedious and dangerous job which the same government has sanctioned its operation in the country which had made foreigners operating and damaging our ecosystem?

Let it be clear that, Mr. Mahama is not NDC, Volta Region nor Moslem President but Republic of Ghana President. He competed for the job and Ghanaians concluded hiring him to do it. He need not look for praises at this time as at the end of the term, Ghanaians will appraise to either renew or cancel his contract which will tell whether been a chicken he danced well to the admiration of the hawk and also Ghanaians are so fools that we do not appreciate seeing our roads tarred with gold from his pocket. What nonsense of a comment and you are trying to defend.

Present situation in our country does not warrant such divisive comments. Rather, sensible and respected Presidents will choose words of wisdom to communicate it to the populace to boost their morals and look for people of integrity to work with them to lift us from this economic dungeon which the person you are defending has plunged us into. Indeed, even if he did say that people who didn't value his government won't appreciate whatever the government did for them and their living environment, what is wrong about it?

We have to point wrongs of people to them rather than pampering them. It will not do them personally as well as society good at the long run. People who choose to defend the indefensible are equally guilty as the perpetrators themselves. You may choose to disagree with me but that is your own concern. I might be silly as you say, but I will never defend wrong comments by someone who at the end of the day my and others little contribution enable him to put something on his kitchen table for his family.

Like I said, sensible and respected leaders will never choose that kind of statements in any public place. Remember that, we hired him to do our work for us. He cannot in anyway insult anybody, anywhere at anytime. If he feels the job is too much for him, he can throw in the towel and nobody will have any grudge with him of quitting. After all he is under performing and his exit will be appreciated by many. Enjoy your day, hoping you are making ends meet in this Mahama administration. E&OE.

Remember that that proverb is even not restricted to Akans alone. Almost all others in Ghana have the wise saying in their language to reflect that kind of ingratitude.

So, what exactly did President Mahama say wrong for which you should be making so much useless noise and condemning Bokor for saying that the President didn't say anything terribly wrong or unheard-of in Ghana?

Regardless of whether one is with his party members or not, as a sitting president you should talk as a national figure rather than a party member. Unguarded words spoken by Nana Addo and Romney both presidential hopefuls to their party folks contributed to their losses. The phenomenon he described is true in each party's stronghold so no need to say it -- for instance we don't expect the Northerners to demonstrate and condemn GYEEDA/SAD rot or folks in the Volta region to condemn JJ for insignificant developments in the Volta region, for precisely the same reasons. You won't get Obama make that mistake in any red state -- he is even more on his guard when in those states. I think Mahama is on some dangerous path which could cost him the next elections -- what he is doing is getting the Akans pumped up to go and vote against him in their numbers. It seems like in the last elections, NDC had made some wonderful inroads into the Akan regions but with these unguarded comments all that could quickly erode away. Remember, the Akans are the majority tribe in 5 regions and so if they start to vote en-mass like the folks do in the Volta region, NDC would not stand a chance.

It's not a secret that Mahama made sure he put the longest distance between Ashantis and cabinet appointments in his administration from the word 'go'. The Ashanti snub was ill-motivated and he has only himself to blame. His actions and inactions in regard to the Ashantis even speak louder than the words he spoke recently which the lackeys and pundits are claiming are being misconstrued. Mr Mahama is laying on the bed prepared by himself and he has nobody to blame.
It's clear the President was trying his hands at damage control but he goofed as he's wont to do and marred his relationship with the embittered Ashantis even further. The saying that "no matter how well the hen dances she fails to impress the hawk"was even misapplied by the President? Was he implying that he is the"hen" and the Ashantis "the hawk"? No way. Who is the aggressor and who has the power? President Mahama. Granted that the President is playing the victim and wants to be recognized as the "hen", how on earth is the hen expecting the hawk to be impressed with the dance when it had already stepped on the toes of "the hawk"?
