Let's solarize - whether with government assistance, private initiative or public-private venture.
One area of renewable energy that would benefit us immensely is waste-to-energy conversion system. I really do wonder why we haven't exploited this to boost up our electricity generation ?

Our leaders, both past and present are clueless and with no ideas. they dont learn from what is good.
THEY ARE ONLY INTERESTED IN LINING THEIR OWN P0OCKETS WITH THE FEW RESOURCES OF THE COUNTRY. THAT IS ALL. PITY.

Businesses, churches, schools, street lights, stadiums, should all use solar or wind energy.

The plant run into problems last December/January when it broke down and waste collection was curtailed, leading to serious environmental problems for affected communities, not least of all the stench.
We need to plan properly in introducing new technology. I agree in toto that we need to look for alternative sources of energy to avoid the vagaries of hydroelectricity.
I am inclined towards thermal energy as a relatively cheap energy source, and would urge the early completion of the Western corridor gas pipeline to reduce our dependence on the West African gas pipeline.
We could also explore wind farms, possibly on our seashore and scarps.

I still insist waste-to-energy-conversion system is the cheapest way to go. Besides, it's also solving our waste problems.
I agree with you that we should seriously look into wind technology. Brazil can help us, they are doing marvelous work with wind energy.

I HAVE HEAD A LOT ABOUT THESE TWO ESTABLISHMENTS. WHAT I READ THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING FOR THE YOUTH IS TREE PLANTING AND GUINEA FOWL FARMS. WHILE THIS NOTEWORTHY, I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO ASK WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TREE PLANTING AND HOW LONG WILL IT LAST? I AM NOT AN ECONOMIST, BUT THE LITTLE I READ ON THE SUBJECT IS THAT IT IS AN IMPRECISE SCIENCE. IN OTGER WORDS, THEIR CALCULATIONS ON OUR ECONOMY CANNOT BE CERTAIN. ECONOMISTS CONJECTURE AND PRAY FOR THE BEST. DO NOT BLAME ME, IT IS WHAT I READ ABOUT YOUR PROFESSION. IT MAY OR MAY NOT BE TRUE. MY QUESTION IS, WHY WITH ALL THE ECONOMISTS BOTH IN AND OUTSIDE GOVERMENT CANNOT TELL US WHY THE ECONOMY IS IN THE STATE IT IS. DR. BAWUMIA GAVE A SPEECH ON THE ECONOMY AND GHANA BROKE LOOSE. THERE EMERGED OPPOSING VIEWS AND THEY WERE NOT PLEASANT. NOW MY CONCERN WITH SADA IN THIS DAY AND AGE WHEN EVERY BOY OR GIRL HAS IN HIS HANS THEIR TOYS AND THAT IS CELL PHONES. ON THE INTERNET, ONE CAN FIND READILY AVAILABLE MACHINERY IN MANUFACTURING SILE THINGS THAT ARE IMPORTED FROM CHINA, PRODUCED BY SOME VILLAGE BOYS AND GIRLS FROM VILLAGES OF CHINA AND EXPORTED TO HERE. WHY NOT USE THE MONEY BEING STOLEN AND PUT INTO THE POCKETS OF THE MANAGERS TO PROCURE SIMPLE MACHINERY AND TEACH THESE YOUTH IN USING THEM TO MANUFACTURE THE THINGS WE IMPORT FROM ELSEWHERE? DO WE THINK TREE PLANTING WILL TAKE OUR YOUTH ANYWHERE? THEY NEED TRADES AND MANUFACTURING. THE LITTLE ESTABLISHMENTS BY THE CPP GOVERNMENT IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF ENGAGING THE YOUTH INTO LONG TERM PRODUCTION OF NEEDED ITEMS IN THE COUNTRY. WE ARE IN THE SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ERA AND WE MUST BE IN IT OR WE WILL BE CARRIERS OF WATER AND WOODS. CAN'T WE DO HERE SOME OF THE THINGS CHINA SENDS US? ARE WE STILL IN THE PAPER PUSHING AGE? WE ARE GETTING THE WRONG TYPE OF PHDS. INTRODUCE MANUFACTURING INTO THE MIX. I KNOW THE CAPITAL IS NOT THERE AND THIS IS WHERE WE WILL NEED TGE STATE AND THE BANKS. I SEARCHED ON THE RICHEST PEOPLE IN GHANA AND MOST OF THEM ARE IN POLITICS AND KNEW WERE THEY DIRECT THEIR MONEY. WE CAN DO BETTER JUST LIKE THE MALAYSIANS AND THE SINGAPOREANS. WE NEED THE CAPITAL AND THE LEADERSHIP. NURTURE THE YOUTH INTO SOMETHING MORE THAN SADA AND GYEEDA.

Okoe, please use lower case letters. It is difficult to read upper case letters, especially when you don't paragraph what you are writing.
