Dear Brother,
Thanks for a beautiful piece.
You and the Otumfuo have spoken well.
What legacy is President Mahama planning to leave behind for posterity? A good question!
This question is as important as his doing everything within his power to turn the economy around and to make politics a progressive platform for improving the lives of the ordinary people!
Let us all help him in whatever way we can to make things better.
Bravo!

True, Francis Kwarteng. It is important for President Mahama to consider what he uses the mandate of the people to accomplish so he can also be eulogized at the end of his tenure in office.
The truth, though, is that he can't build Ghana alone, which is what I have been stressing in my numerous opinion pieces on the causes and solutions to Ghana's under-development problems.
Those who respond to such opinion pieces without considering issues beyond their narrow perspectives on "personal politics" are quick to misconstrue my stance and respond with needless insults and wayward comments that clearly confirm my apprehensions about the future of Ghanaian politics.
We will definitely keep supporting President Mahama because he is the chosen leader. All those who think otherwise can do their worst.
The truth is that a lot more has to be done to move Ghana forward than what has emerged so far.
I hope that the Asantehene's characterization of the problem will be understood and its lessons learnt.
If we continue to allow partisan politics to numb our skulls, we will end up doing more harm to our country than it can cope with!!

It is interesting to know that some of you are really constrained in your assessment of national issues and that you are even too lazy to do some checks to know that those of us who have chosen to write opinion pieces are not strangers to happenings in Ghana.
We needn't be in the news to be known for our contributions. Nor will we want to be part of the cheap politics going on in this timer when politics has made Ghanaians really lazy (thanks to the Asantehene's astute observation). Don't be lazy upstairs.
I throw the challenge to you now to ensure that you play your part too.

C'mon, don't argue as if you're the only one who spent decades in Ghana! Or as if you're the only Ghanaian around and all others are lazy ones. I don't know even know how old you are to be claiming here that you've moved Ghana forward for decades, have done your bit and can now take a backstage and assume here the role of an all-knowing armchair critic and expert. You know more than the guys still out there toiling on the ground and who have not moved on "to other departments of life". You who are not as lazy as the rest..,
We have all seen your "numerous opinion pieces" on ghanaweb and that's quite a contribution to moving Ghana forward, eh?
Bokor, a little humility will do well on your part. That's one thing Ewes are well known for.

Didn't they all come to donate to him? or his kingdom? The powerful Otumfuo and Okyehene as they are called, all gave out their lands to 'galamseyers'. But see their pretense. This Otumfuo is too political wanting politicians to be converging in front of him every now and then.

Kofi do you know Otumfuo or just a hear say do you have evidence? and also shame on you Bokor you are one of many evil ghanaians who try your best to disgrace The Asantehene and his Office.

There's no question about the huge tribal and political divide in the country which has been stalling our growth and development. Instead of the educated elite among us using their influence and knowledge to help douse the flames of ignorance, enmity, mistrust, pride, bigotry, prejudice, envy and pettiness started earlier by others before us some of you have used this medium to widen and deepen the divide. You and the others justify your actions by saying where there's so much smoke there must be some fire. In reality what you've been doing is adding to the smoke, where the fire referred to may be only the fire of malice started by some malevolent person.
I was expecting your confession if you have decided to turn the page from waging a tribal war against Akans in general. Why is it that with all our personal weaknesses and realities some of us dare to arrogate to ourselves the position of judge? At our very best we can judge only what we see. We cannot judge the heart or intention or judge the potential of others with our blurred vision. Hopefully you're motivated enough to take a cue from the Asantehene's great speech and use the power of your pen to unite rather than divide. That's what we need, the essence and the nitty gritty of the King's speech.
