  Let them go to the IMF to borrow money. Uncle IMF is waiting for them. If they don't borrow the money, how can they increase the number of presidential staffers? How can they race to award useless contracts left and right while ensuring their personal kick backs, contracts they'll offer without open bidding to their brothers and uncles and tribesmen? The oil money is not enough. Everybody is suffering already while few are running around in chattered aircraft as businessmen going to Iran and all the places. Ordinary commercial planes are not fast enough for them in their bid to plunder the country, to scatter the anticipated IMF loan. They should do it because tomorrow they are gone. It'll be another government's responsibility to pay the IMF - and the rest of us Ghanaians to suffer and cry uncle. If one doesn't have control over simple things he must not saddle himself with complex ones. It's always easy to take loans but payment is hell! Neither a borrower nor a lender be! The lions in the country are waiting to take their share with a deadly smile. If you can't restrain the lions don't go for the loan. Amen.

  As a retired accountant from a industrial country, I can say, this author is correct in what he says. But it is not as simple as he states, Ghana banking system needs to be revamped so a middle class can be formed. The government needs to get out of private businesses like privatizing the electric companies and water companies. Establish an independent investigation committee, free from any outside involvement, staffed by private Ghanaian citizens. This list goes on and on. From what I can see, the government in Ghana is doing its very best to do everything wrong.

  Apart from Kwame Nkrumah who did something for Ghana nobody including his enemies the UP/PP/PFP/NPP, has done anything for this country. Although he faced the same economic problems like today yet food was available, raw materials were avaible for our factories and work was available.
  When his enemies overthrew they destroyed everything even his prize airline is now a CHOP BAR! Thanks to NPP and Kuffour. To hear them talk today about our economic problems makes me really angry! Anyway, We can't cry over split milk but it's really painful to see the same scenario being played over and over again with the same results.
