Unfortunately, it is too late now. There is practically GMO in most imports from US and Latin American countries. In food like Uncle Ben's rice, Corned Beef, butter, fruits, yellow rice, vegetables, and pharmaceuticals, etc.
our local agric scientist have been modifying our crops for the last 50years to achieve,
1. better yield
2. withstand insects
3. longer shelf life
currently all food is one way of the other genetically modified.

The GM crops being promoted by foreign institutions are largely for animal consumption (maize and soy), rather than human. There are other ways to support yields and tackle hunger!
