It is incredible that in the 21st Century our power generation companies cannot plan and have phased outages if necessary. There have been unprecedented investments into power generation in recent times, at least by sub-Saharan African standards and yet power generation and supply do not reflect such investments. Power is essential for businesses to help boost economic growth and if our current crop of power companies cannot rise up to that challenge they must step aside and make way for more competent operators or the relevant regulators must step up and act; heads need to roll if this blatant disrespect for consumers persists. The government continues to subsidise their operations, amid rising costs for consumers so why are the not stepping up supply accordingly? Where is the extra revenue going? PURC and the energy ministry must crank up pressure to ensure steady and reliable power supply and if ECG, GRIDCO and VRA cannot rise up to the challenge the government must hesitate to liquidate them and form new companies or sell them up to more responsible companies, be they Ghanaian or foreign. How on earth would Ghanaian manufacturers ever compete with their international competitors with such erratic power supply? The excuses, blame games and unnecessary politicisation must stop now. Roll up your sleeves, go to work and give Ghanaian citizens the reliable power they deserve or accept that you are complete failures and give way to those who might be able to serve Ghanaians better.

Just bashing ECG, which is considered fair game by un-informed "analysts" does not help anyone understand what is going on.
