Dude, Zaire was not the first African country to play at the World Cup. And hell, 1974 was not the first time Africa participated. I know for a fact that Egypt had participated way before then.

You are right Egypt played in the world cup in 1930, Morocco played in 1970 before Zaire showed up in 1974.
Meanwhile I tip CIV and Nigeria to progress from their group and perhaps surprise the world.

The truth is that ourc urrent Ghana team is overrated, this will prove itselfw when we come back from Brazil without a single point. When al ion is sleeping,t they think he is dead. Believe me, the current Ghana team will not be able to beat Cameroon. To classifyt them as people going to brazil to make numbers is would be a big mistake.

Anyone who has followed Nigeria soccer in recent times will agree with me that Keshie has greatly transformed Nigeria - they are looking like their dream team of 1994. I will not be surprised if they win their group F ahead of Messi's Argentina and Bosnia Herzegovina. If Nigeria make it past the group stage, they will go far.
Unlike 2006 and 2010, Ivory Coast are in a relatively easier group C - they will surely qualify from the group (probably with Greece).
With a little push, Algeria can also make it from group H after a close fight with Belgium and Russia.
By far, the toughest groups are A and G where Cameroon and Ghana are respectively. Even though Cameroon have prepared well, it will be extremely difficult for them to edge out Brazil, Mexico and Croatia - it will require a 1990-like performance to achieve this. They have a 50-50 chance of making it.
On paper, Ghana has a good team. Though they are in a battle of their lives, everything will depend on the quality of their preparation. If they get the right fitness level, the right seriousness and determination level, they can compete well with Germany, Portugal and the USA. This is going to be difficult hence I will not be surprised if Ghana fails to make it past the group stage.
