  You have no idea how great writers like you make us want to write better or to improve upon our writing all the time.
  
  Anyway, Sister Angelou deserves all the accolades we can throw at her. Regarding the oldies, I have a bunch of them by my bedside and listen to them as I write.
  
  These old tunes (palm-wine highlife, roots reggae, etc) put me in a different mood whenever I write.
  
  To tell you the truth, I cannot wtite effectively and poignantly without them, especially roots reggae.
  
  That said, kudos to you for the beautiful tributes in behalf of Sister Maya Angelou.
  
  Lest I forget, Brother Kwesi, I saw a 1991 black-and-white picture of Amiri Baraka and Maya Angelou dance on Langston Hughes' remains at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
  
  All three, Amiri Baraka, Langston Hughes, and Maya Angelou, count among the world's gifted writers. I strongly believe their works should be part of the educational system across Africa. I guess you know what I am driving at.

  After trials on earth, after her joys and celebrations, I sent her off in spiritual gladness, in typical Ghanaian festivity. Still, I wonder, at the Junction of Life Everlasting, did she turn left to a Christian world of Eternal Peace ever after, there to sit at the feet of a ghostly Holy Trinity that demands Hallelujah choruses and obedient servitude in exchange for blissful peace, or did our Mende daughter, this our bold Warrior Queen turn right, heading straight to confront the wrath of Shango, Nangai, Vodun, and all other Mighty Spirits, creators of powerful African empires - now non-existent but for the rubble - for we Africans, did bid heritage good bye when, like children with a new toy, we swapped our Spiritual Essence for a slave-trading missionary’s Book.

Look at the likes of Blacks from the diaspora who came down to help build Ghana? Look at that era and its architecture,the passion, the love for duty.
