Solving problems by using scientific method and satisfying tradition is not a bad idea.

I have always wondered WHY an educated Ghanaian is soo proud to call him/her John,Frank, Anita and Barbara, and name their children after English names.If God had wanted any to be called Da Costa, he COULD have created that person a Protuguese. Did the prompt dredging of the Subin creek stopped the flooding of homes located near the banks of the water body, or rather it was due to the intervention and intercession of the sacrificial sheep that is likely to lead to the cessation of the perennial flooding?

And would the same happen in other parts of Ghana that are susceptible to frequent flooding, say Okoe Vanderpuije's Accra? Would scientific traditionalism be applicable to Korle Lagoon, Odaw river, or the Sakumo ?

Learned Professor, in my humble opinion, for a phenomenon to earn the appellation "scientific",it should be replicable and meet some standard. Whether you call it "scientific traditionalism", "scientific socialism", or "modern science". Until you succeed in defining the characteristics of your "scientific traditionalism", it wouldn't be worth the paper you composed your theory on.

Afrikans, we have a long way to go, we are hanging on the colonial legacy, before we can develop as a nation we have to decolonize our minds.Our forefather's were blind to scientific stuffs but they were able to live through their traditional way and were able to solved their problems without the scientific knowledge and they survived, and the most interesting thing is that they invented many things of which the Europeans stole and they are now selling it to us because we failed to think and reason as people. A western-educated Ghanaian can not invent and also solve the problem with all his scientific knowledge he/she has acquired why? How many people know that soap was invented in the Gold Coast? How can Antwi Boasiako be a local name but Paul Bright John is a christian name why not european english name rather? Local as it is use by Afrikans is a devilish word.

(It might be called a rationalistic concession to still-too-powerful insanity out of necessity, nothing more. Surely not scientific in any conventionally accepted definition of the word.)

Should some scapegoats die in pain and blood be spilt to the "gods" and their meat probably consumed by the "priestly caste" every time humans make mistakes, e.g. build houses in waterways and flood areas?

Tradition can only be called scientific, if it stand up to scrutiny in it's light,
and the worthwhile is kept, while the illogicality is discarded.

For example, I share the idea that many members of African political "elites" quite obviously deeply despise their "simple" compatriots and their traditions.

That is the way the colonial educational system was designed to ensure production of loyal, uncritical colonial subjects for lower to mid-level administrative tasks, and this has largely been inherited post-colonially, because the former colonies usually lacked the expertise and insight and material means to deeply reform the educational sector. One can even superficially see how Ghanaian children are still being indoctrinated with ideologies, starting from the covers of their obligatory school supplies. All in the line of the currently predominant "western mainstream" expectations, fashions, gender roles and pastimes (mostly ads for professional commercialised soccer, pop culture cartoons from the USA et c.). Later it continues by select few awarded scholarships being sent off to the foreign universities, many times for further assimilation, where many fall prey to naive admiration and greed for the civilisatory amenities they witness there.
