We don't have money to build a new capital from scratch. There's no need to have a capital city in the middle of the country if we improve transport and communications infrastructure countrywide. Afterall Ghana is a small country.

What we should do is to divest Accra of many departmental headquarters. Parliament can be moved to Koforidua or Dodowa. Immigration can have its national headquarters in Nsawam. DVLA can be headquarted in Kumasi or Sunyani. And Kotoka international Airport should definitely move away from Accra to a place nearby - Dodowa.

The idea is not to concentrate everything in Accra!

Accra For Capital not too good but methinks Kintampo worse because because too many challenge will face Ghana to transport capital from Accra. Stray cows and guinea fowl from northern region will invasion the new capital. Fulani men's will chase cows in the new Kintampo city capitals. Again Sahara desert traveling too fast down south. It almost reach Bole-Bamboi and soon will grip Kintampo. So water problem increase and Waija dam cannot travel from Accra to Kintapos to supply water. Also very difficult to build strong concrete wall around Kintampo to prevent Sahara desert to enter. Also the capital will be full of lawless Kayayos and truck pushing associations because more ladies and gentlemens from Bolega and Tanga can walk on foot to capital easy because too close to New capitals in kintampo. Moreover Ghana have no money and President Mahama said no meat only bones left so keep Accra for capital now. Relocate Nima Zongo to kintampo and make the place beautiful. Also clear the streets of Accra from the shoe shiners and dog chain sellers to go to kookoo villages in Ashanti to farm. Move Accra timber market to Samaiboi in western region. Enroll more people from Accra to go to SADA TREE PLANTING PROGRAMs and guinea fowl farmers in Navrongo. That will make small people left in Accra. Thanks. I shall return

The land is flat,but not undulating,with the mountain at the eastern frank.
IT'S ABOUT 57 MILES NORTH,FROM ACCRA,and in hinterland,but not coastal,for security sake.
IT'S FAST GROWING NOW.
Ghanaians are by nature,a very hospitable entity,and KOFORIDUA,is even more.
PEOPLE LIKE MY CITY KOFORIDUA,because we welcome people from all over Ghana,and the cost of living is quite moderate,than maybe,all other cities in Ghana.
THE MOUNTAIN,IF DEVELOPED,WILL POSE AN ADMIRABLE PHOTOGRAPH,REMINISCENCE OF HOLLYWOOD,CALIFORNIA.
My first visit to that place,caught my attention,as I gazed back to my city,KOFORIDUA.
I have said a lot about my city Koforidua.
Maybe,someone also have something better than what I have just said.

But,the capital,being wherever it would in Ghana,BRIBERY & CORRUPTION,has to be curbed,when we get the fullest grip on our oil deposits,so we could develop the new capital to its fullest.

It will be much cheaper to do than to relocate entire capital city which will eventually be choked again in no time. Do we have money to build airport, ministries, bungalows, etc etc. Elmina used to be capital, then cape coast, hefore accra. Accra can be deconjested by decentralizing. Move industries to the interior. Give 4ax incentives for businesses to relocate.

Additionally, we should decentralized our government. Accra is crammed due to our centralized government. Why can't we spread the government departments throughout the country?

P/NDC governments have intentionally poorized majority of Ghanaians that more than seventy percent of our population live below poverty line.And listen to this writer, what he is suggesting for growth.

I hope no government will not assign this guy with regard to growth to any government post. Are they not the same politicians who have looted and stolen everything in Ghana going to be in charge of projects of this new capital that this writer thinks will stir economic growth?

Growth has not occurred in any of the countries this writer mentioned. All the countries he mentioned, their major problem like Ghana is perpetual and chronic corruption and nepotism. If Ghana is able to address corruption and nepotism in Ghana, it will not take two years to see real economic growth that can provide jobs and increase real income for our population.

Please,my friend Stephen, don't seek another avenues for our corrupt politicians to further destroy our country economically. Let us go back to Dr. K.A. Busia Rural Development Program. Develop the rural Ghana, and Accra will not be congested.

Do you think of the cost before you come up with this gigantic project for our corrupt politicians? Our capital used to be Cape Coast and it was moved to present Accra. Has that solved our economic growth problem ?

I should think,our colonial masters,sited our coast lines as capital cities,because of trade reasons,both in slavery and products,as well.

In my candid opinion, we have to move the capital city from Accra as a precaution against climate change: flooding will become more frequent and disastrous, considering the fact that most of Accra is low-lying, and its gutters and drainage systems are forever choked. The city will have to spend huge amounts of money combatting the catastrophic effects predicted sea rise. We should expect rising sea level from Axim to Aflao.

Right now we are not preparing to face climate change because the majority of us don't believe it is real, many of us think it is a hoax.

We are vulnerable to climate change, and one way we can be prepared for it is to undertake mitigation and adaptive measures - one of which is to move our capital as far inland as Yeji, a word to the wise is enough, or should I say, a stitch in time saves nine.

Building a new capital city because others have done so will not help us in any way. One question is: How did those nations who built the new capitals benefit from these new projects?

My take is that this new project will lead to massive corruption as the projects will e overpriced.

We should focus on improving power reliability/access as well.

Kintampo is not the center of Ghana after addition of Transvolta Togoland, now Volta Region. Atebubu is close to center of Ghana now. Just look at the map of Ghana. But Kintampo or Atebubu or anywhere in between will be fine.

We do not need a new capital city. we we need is modern and improved transport infrastructure. Population is the Greater Accra is less then one per cent (.08%) In greater London the population is 8 million; 13% of the total population in the UK. This represents over a third of the population in Ghana. Also, 750,000 people every day commute to London to work. More and more people are moving out of London to buy houses well away London because they can easily commute to work.
if our transport system, particularly the rail road is good you can live in Takoradi, Kumasi and even Tamale and to commute to Accra or vis versa to work.
Let us not waste resources on building a new city but use them to re-engineer our cities.

Abuja was a complete and total waste of to arable land in Nigeria.Effective planning is the key.Instead of building mickey mouse "1&2" bedroom houses all over Tema,Kasoa,Adenta,etc,the gov"t should think of building tower blocks of four and six bedroom flats"considering our extended families" for workers.Sprawling Tema is classic case in point.It works in South Korea,Hong Kong,Singapore and Manhattan.
