Theoretically speaking, Ghana could have randomly selected 23 adult males for the tournament knowing that the outcome would be disastrous. Cameroon never won a match, yet the players demanded appearance fees. Do the Cameroonian players deserve to be paid $125K each?

Had they not qualified, Ghana government would not have received that money. In this sense, the players have right to take what is due to them either they advance to next stage or not.

The 32 participating Nations in this tournament received equal amount and it is left to each country's Sports Administrators how to use the money. Get it that some countries are going to invest the remains of their earnings from FIFA by putting in good equipments to boost the sports. From the way things have gone so far in the players part of the money, I am afraid that should they advance to the next stage when another money would be released by FIFA, we are going to see and hear this disgusting and ineptitude actions of this failed government of Mr. Mahama. Is is not stupid and senseless to charter a whole plane to go and deliver $3 million to a playing body elsewhere, when this could have been excuted long before than putting the whole country at the negative side of the global information radar? Bunch of senseless and gong-hos are at the realm of affairs. E&OE.

Appearance money is from FIFA to players of each participating nation. These funds are supposed to be paid to national associations (in Ghana the GFA), and then paid out to the players. The players should have been paid in Ghana before flying out to Brazil. So first, why were the players not paid in Ghana? Second, why did the money get to the government of Ghana through the Ministry of Sports when in fact it should have gone to the GFA in the first place. Somebody somehow attempted to jettison the funds and the players possibly knew about it. They know that if they don't demand payment in Brazil, it will be difficult for them to get it in Ghana especially if they don't make it to the next stage. This is not about nationalism. The players from all nations in the competition who make several millions more than most of our players received their appearance monies long before they landed in Brazil. The government of Ghana has no business in keeping the funds until now. We now see the folly in chattering a whole private plane to send $3 million to players in far away Brazil. The government of Ghana is lucky that the Brazilian government will even permit them to bring in physical cash of $3 million into their country. Some other developed nations would have ceased the funds at the point of entry because the funds didn't go through proper channels. This cries foul and should be thoroughly investigated by FIFA.
