Ghana had a better team this year than South Africa four years ago, unfortunately the coach has no clue. After Ghana reached the finals of the African Cup of Nations and lost narrowly to Egypt, this coach could not even get the team to beat Burkina in the next Cup of Nations, in fact we were humiliated by Burkina. In South Africa Ghana was only a penalty kick away from reaching the semi finals,all Ghana got from him in Brasil was another dose of humiliation. If this incompetent man is no sacked, Ghana may struggle to even make the African Cup of Nations. Ghana was losing to Portugal and all he did was take out the best player on the pitch DEDE and left the worse player on the pitch ATSU play the entire game.

KA should let us know how long it will take him to rebuild and not expect the nation to give him 20yrs to find the right players. By the time he is done finding the right set of players, they will be too old to compete. How can one dissolve a team that doesn't exist? Black Stars is not a standing team like Kotoko. The team exists only if there's a tournament. No tournament, no BS. If there's a tournament players are called according to their form. After the tournament the team is dissolved until the next tournament. Playing in one tournament is no guarantee that you'll be playing in another.

Kevin Prince Boateng has called the entire Black Stars World Cup campaign in Brazil "amateurish" in his first full interview since being sent home from the tournament.

In a no holds barred interview with German news outlet Bild,Boateng revealed the circumstances that led to the deterioration of order in the Black Stars camp and also denied ever being rude to Kwasi Appiah.

"I am very, very disappointed. It just wasn’t a good time.

The nightmare lasted from the first day of the preparations until the very end.

I would never have thought that the preparations and the World Cup itself could be so badly organized. The hotels, the flights – everything was amateurish.

We flew from our first training camp in Amsterdam to Miami. But we flew in two groups, because apparently there wasn’t enough space for all of us. One group went via Atlanta, the other one via New York. We sat at the airport for nine hours and the whole trip was 19 hours. And…

The flight from Miami to Brazil a week later was 12 hours. We flew economy class, all cramped. The legs hurt. It may sound weird for normal people, but for professional sportsmen it’s an impertinence.

Our president [GFA president], his wife and his two kids sat in business class on the same flight. In Brazil we finally got a chartered flight. But then the officials managed to lose my luggage somehow. I didn’t have my football boots for some days, no tapes, nothing. It was disastrous.

The only hotel were we could really prepare in was the one in Miami. We moved in there after we complained because the players didn’t want to stay at the other one.

Boateng also told Bild the team's accommodation before the 2-1 loss to USA was less than satisfactory.

"Before the first WC game against USA we slept at a hotel, I call it a fleabag, which was definitely not recommended by FIFA. There was a severe water damage, the rooms were wet. I had to change rooms, my room had turned into a private swimming-pool because of the water dripping from the ceiling. "

The Schalke star also laid into coach Kwesi Appiah,revealing he had been led to believe he would have a starring role with the team and was surprised to sit out Ghana's opening game.

"Very surprised. It was him who kept talking about me as the leader and who had declared his confidence in me. I have never had a problem with him and I have always behaved positively. But if somebody asked me whether he is a good coach… No.

No. But I respect him as a person, like I respect everyone. I have always accepted and respected all decision that he made. I’m just wondering why he begged me to play for Ghana when I was still at AC Milan. Then I make a comeback and suddenly I’m not playing anymore. The president was at one of these talks as well. He gave me his word that we were going to have better travel, better organization and better preparation. He didn’t keep the promise. In the end I was just dissatisfied.

On the issue of bonuses which sparked an international media frenzy,Boateng said it was the least of the team's problems during the World Cup.

"No. That has become part of it and it’s nearly normal. That was the smallest problem. But everything kept stacking up over the whole month. It was catastrophic. The practice conditions, sleeping conditions, everything. I just wonder where all the money goes.

The GFA makes so much money from sponsors, through FIFA. And it’s certainly not spent on hotels, flights, the squad and the preparations. "

Boateng also spoke of the poor team spirit that existed among the playing" bodies and accused some of his team mates of being hypocrites.

"No. It wasn’t a real team. Everyone was occupied with himself, everyone was talking bad about each other. There were two or three players who were happy about Sulley Muntari’s and my suspension. And those players exactly had told me that I was right about everything. Everyone knows that I have never insulted the coach. But they spoke against Sulley and me in front of him.

But still, the GFA released a statement saying that you have insulted the coach. People started saying that Boateng couldn’t control himself once again.

I don’t care about that at all. I’m very relaxed because I know for a fact that I have not done anything like that. "

No human being is perfect. But again: No. I have just stated my opinion. There was no player who was happy. We had a perceived 100 meetings with the delegation. We told them that there are countless things that need to be changed. That’s why I’m an easy prey. "

Boateng also said he was an easy scape goat to have because he always spoke his mind on issues and this did not go down well with officials whilst also explaining his side of the story in the incident that led to him being kicked out.

"Because I said to their faces that they are liars who permanently make promises that they never keep. We were lied to constantly.

Like I have said before: Sulley and I were joking around at practice. The coach stopped, we said everything was OK. Suddenly I had to go to the locker room. Later I asked the coach whether he had something against me. He shouted at me and insulted me, for example by saying “Fuck off”. Due to the rush there was a mix-up with dates. The incident happened four days before my suspension.

If I had insulted the coach back then, why was I suspended much later on Thursday?

"On Wednesday there was another meeting with the delegation. That’s when I told the officials that they were lying to us, that they were making hollow promises. Four days after the incident at practice and a day after the meeting I found a white piece of paper under my door, saying I was suspended. I think everyone knows the reason. The president just turned the tables.

There’s no need to. They have basically thrown me out. I love the country and the people. But under circumstances like this it’s hard for any sportsman to carry on. I will go on holidays right now and I’ll return to Schalke with full force in mid-July. I’ll take it from there."

There were more than 50 members in the camp and they cant get 1 person to check the hotel? Give me a break!!!.The food in the camp was horrible. The management employed 2 women to cook for more than a 100 people meanwhile these women were not given enough time for preparation. We need to value some of our players than criticising them because the whole camp was a nightmare whilst these officials have the freedom to buy whatever they wish. The likes of John Boye who we all saw kissing money should not be invited to black stars again. KP brought a physiotherapist he employed from Germany who was helping the entire players for free and he is paying from his own pocket.

Was he aware that such a decision could demoralize the other players and therefore cause the team to lose? Did he think through that if he wanted his team to win the game against Portugal, the timing of the suspension was wrong? What is this tough talk about indiscipline about? And so in the name of indiscipline at a crucial time during the world cup like this we have to forget about the world cup itself? Is he aware that life is like that and that this can happen again in 2018? I thought he was doing well until this last decision to expel the two players at wrong time. Doing so Appiah robbed Ghanaians of victory with USA which ultimately caused us the early exist from the games. Besides, the guys understand that Appiah and his cohorts were against their progress that created the tension which lead to the fighting and demand for money and all the nonsense that resulted in Sulley physically slapping somebody. Based on these facts I strongly believe that the guys were divided and some were fighting for others plights that they suffered at the hands of Appiah. Appiah is to be blamed totally for our early exist. He should stop blaming the players and just get out of there immediately. Most people question the need for a Foreign Coach, its simple they hold no loyalties and always play the best team available.
Kwesi Appaih cannot handle the Stars and his appointment in the first place was wrong. If anyone was to be Ghanaian Coach for the Stars it should have rightly been Silas Tetteh. He had all the credentials and yet the incompetent GFA chose a Security Guard from London. Someone with no backbone and a yes yes man. I can only guess it was for the benefit of the Greedy GFA, who in my opinion do not have the team at heart. They probably made a lot of money by choosing a low Class Coach and pocketing the rest of the cash they would have paid a better Foreign one.
I mean this is our Golden Generation of footballers, we risk repeating history (Abedi and Yeboah Era). Quality players but would not amount to nothing as a team. We need a Competent GFA who will find us a World Class Coach to take us to the next level. We cannot afford to let this moment pass by bringing in a Clueless Coach to experiment, just because he is Ghanaian.
So I say dissolve the GFA, sack the Coach and bring in a World Class Coach. Stop the Tribalism. I know its a long shot...

Dominic, I beg to differ from your suggestion to dissolve the team and keep the coach. You have drawn a hasty conclusion that is not supported by your own analysis. You have failed to address the root cause of the problem that makes you think the Black Star players, be they home based or foreign based just play for money. The team is being managed and I wonder if you will not be bothered if your own son was part of the team. Do you think all the GFA and government officials who went to Brazil did so just for the love of their country? The sad truth is they are all leeches trying as much as they could to get their share of the funds that havee been allocated for the tournament. And if they decide to misappropriate the funds for purposes other than that the which they are meant for, everyone including the players have every right to question the officials. There have been several instances in the past of how these funds have been misused by officials. It has gotten to a point where most Ghanaians have simply lost trust in government officials when money is involved. Corruption is killing this country. Let us address it squarely by calling a spade a spade. I don't have any reason to believe that coach Akwasi Appiah is corrupt, but I beg to say he is not yet ripe for the job. He has very good intentions for the team but these are not enough. He could revert to his former position as assistant coach.
All the boys did their best and no one questioned their patriotism when they palyed the US and Germany. The government and GFA dropped the ball big time. If they had not promised the palyers that they will get their moneys before the match there wouldn't have been any such expectations on the part of the players in the first place. All the participating countries knew that FIFA always pays appearance fees after the games. All these countries prefinance the games and get reimbursed afterwards. Either Ghana government is so broke that they couldn't find $3 million to pay these boys and had to go asking FIFA to give them I.O.U in the course of the games or that the officials tried to short change the players thinking they won't make it pass the group stage. By the way, what happened to all the monies that were voted for the world cup in this year's budget? Well a lot of things are mentioned in the budget that never get funded. We have been lying to ourselves for far too long and it is catching up with us sooner than we have expected. We need change. Folks, is there no clause in the constitution that allows for early elections? Seriously, we need real change of government, but hell no, NOT through the barrel of the gun.

In the office, one is paid according to his or her age in some countries while as others pay according to position the person holds in the company. GFA can restructure or reorganize the Black Stars, in that case the coach can stay.
Secondly it wrong to make the assertion that playing for the national team must be ultruistic - players should play for the national team pro bono. How did you arrive at that concept, my friend? FIFA pays all the participating nations a specified amount for preparation and appearance fee and bonuses for the players. So in your wisdom, where do you suggest this money should go - to the corrupt politicians?
Akwasi Appiah should do the honourable thing and resign. He is not up to the job - the unrest in the camp and the sacking of Muntari and Kevin Boateng goes to show that he is not ready for the big leagues - he is not fit to be even Assistant Coach let alone Coach of the National Team.
I was among the first people who applauded his appointment. I thought finally we have our own kinsman to coach the beloved Black Stars. But my optimism dissipated during and after our game with the US. I can tell you that Akwasi Appiah is not worth the $20,000 salary the Ghanaian taxpayer pays him every month. He must find another job - coaching the Black Stars is not his forte.

We all agree Ghana's world cup was a fiasco, and while I do not agree with Sulley's assault on the official, I believe he asked a very good question....why were there so many Ghanaian "officials" in Brazil?.

The money for the players is provided to the GFA by FIFA, not by the Ghana govt. so there should not have been any issues with our boys getting their fair share.

I have no doubt that our players are patriotic and dedicated to playing for Ghana, and yes we all know that they earn big money playing for their respective clubs, but that is not the point, they should not have to see their fair payments (even if it's just one dollar each) disappear into the pockets of corrupt "officials" and then be expected to give their all for their country, after all if any of them happens to get injured while playing for Ghana who is going to take care of their medical bills?, it won't be the Ghana FA!.

In my opinion this is what needs to happen:-
1. Remove all the current top officials of the GFA and bring in new people to run it (i.e Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah, these guys have experience of dealing with football at the highest level.

2. I am in favour of a Ghanaian team coach, but it is a sad fact that there aren't any Ghanaians who have managed teams at the highest level of the game (i.e English Premiership, Germany, Italy, France, Spain etc.) and who know how to handle top ego driven players like the KPB and Sulleys of this world, in view of this we need a foreign coach, but it has to be someone who has top level experience and someone who will not be influenced by any Ghanaian officials.

Hopefully then we can progress and showcase our Ghana Black Stars to the rest of the world.

Appiah is part of the management team that failed us; he has no authority, he has not the right training in psychology to be able to manage big egos and turn them into victorious lads; he lacks all of this; even the younger ones will have an ego once they become respectable players and he wouldn’t be able to manage them. A national team coach doesn’t train players; they train mostly with their clubs, during national camping sessions the national coach only manages what the players already know and to blend them with a strategy that can win matches. Kwasi can’t put any ideas on new strategies on a piece of paper and use it for pep talk at the interval. Do we need to go to university or technical school to understand that we have no coach? They renewed his contract before time because they suspected what will happen so at least he can be compensated for having listened to them; but let him go with the management team.

If in the 21st Century, money means more than playing for your country with pride, then the whole of the Black Stars who went to Brazil should be replaced by those who love their country more than money. Cameroon had the same problem even before the left for Brazil, and for players who purport to love Ghana and playing for Ghana, to exhibit such attitude is disgraceful. Problems with payment is something that should be settled at home and not on the international stage for the world media to see. On the other hand – the GFA and government should respect the players who wear the shirt and provide them with better facilities. The England team slept in a five star hotel with five star facilities, sponsored by Vauxhall the car company. You can expect people to perform at their best with inferior facilities. This is why I am advocating a Black Stars Fund, every business in Ghana should contribute whatever they can afford. The boys have to play in competitions to represent Ghana, let us support them in supporting and representing their country at the highest levels. Enough is enough… We want to be PROUD not to be SHAMED!!

In most western countries when the national team fails to win, the coach either resigns or gets fired. While most players relish playing for their national teams, the players are professionals who are paid for their services. The payment of bonuses are not issues in the west, because unlike Ghana, their football associations are not ran by corrupt officials.
