In the days of Baba Yara Osei Kofi CK Gyamfi played football on purely sacrificial basis. Osei Kofi got contracts to play abroad but he refused. But today million of dollars must be flown before a game is played, Na wow.

We have been falling in the FIFA ranking since he became coach if the BS. If he has any integrity, he will resign and not wait to be fired. But with corrupt officials in the FGA, I am not sure they will do the right thing.

Gutter gutter was more for the cities since they didn't have pitches to play on. In the villages everybody could easily go to the school part and play. Moreover, there were no gutters in the villages to play gutter gutter.

There was another game we played called kotodwe because you could only use your head, chest and knees but not feet. It was played between only two persons using the school veranda and can be played when it is raining outside but you have the veranda.

You're right, Hearts was not the first team formed in the Gold Coast. I didn't say that either. Hearts is the oldest surviving club side in the country today. All the clubs formed before hearts, like The Invincibles and Super ...

Those songs ignited turbo chargers in me and I was always ready to break the opponents leg to prevent a goal. I love your article; I learnt a lot from it. This is what we need not insults. Ghanaians old enough those days will never forget OOC - Osagyefo's Own Club. People complained that Nkrumah was destroying the other clubs by having one strong club. Nkrumah really understood football and what it could do. He wanted Ghana to have the best club on the continent.

You forgot to mention, however, that only one ball was used in the game. And when it got kicked far beyond the fence into the surrounding forest, the game would stop and the brass band would start playing. The playing field would for the moment turn into a dancing ground. Truly, so much has changed. So much cheating. So much corruption. All to do with money and very little regard for fairness.
