I do not agree with everything that pen down but your choice and timing of words are impeccable. I was wondering if you had a writing club of a sort in Ghana or a writing camp for Senior High School students? It would be another feather in your cap. There are so many wirting talents going waste back in Ghana. I could make this club a reality if you decide to take me up on this offer. I will be glad to hear from you. Onuapa, Ayekoo!!

Praising Okoampa is as painful as pulling hairs from my nostril, but I have to say that the man has an uncanny command of language and vocabulary bordering on that of the typical genius. He is also the leader of Ghanaweb authors, given the prolific nature of his output. Ghanaweb is Okoampa and Okoampa is Ghanaweb is an apt concession.
But the man is a congenital fool....somebody for whom wisdom or commonsense forever runs parallel. This fact is evidenced in his hereditary bigotry, immature peroration and lack of a writing philosophy directed toward national unity and cohesion, and even the unity and cohesion of his own political party.
Thus the man epitomizes the curse of the educated African: a malignant factor in the national psyche.....a burden in the cause of progress.....a literary tumor to be excised by all means necessary.
Thus, to some of us, denting Okoampa's literary escutcheon is an act of patriotism to which we have a lifetime of commitment.

there's a remarkable difference between 'hears' and 'answers.' A father hears the demands of his child but may decide to answer all, part or not the requests put forward.

I know you always hear me. Literally means that “ God always respond or answers Jesus prayer “ He has been assured of that. Please bear in mind Sammy that , we are not talking of a mere individual like me and you here.

He cannot compare himself to Chinua Achebe or any of our African writers because his style of writing is vintage bombastic style of about 100years ago Victorian style. Most of us writers do not admire his writing and I am sorry for his students.

The word voracious could also mean " excessively eager", "enthusiastic" or "having a huge appetite".So even denotatively speaking, the word fits the context in which ...

Then again, consider the whole gamut of associative meanings that a word could have. Nobody can quantify or restrict the various ways in which a word could be used. If I were to write, "I am reading the story of your eyelids," or "Don't slash me into pieces with your tongue", are you going to say that your eyelid is not a book, or that your tongue is not a machete?
Finally, your input/output argument is porous insofar as it has no source in academia.
Please, allow the man his authorial license and don't fault him on an undecided question of semantics!

1. There is one thing that we all must admit: Okoampa certainly has literary talent. You may argue about its extent but you cannot deny it.

2. He has a very huge vocabulary - more than any of us who appear on these pages. And he digs deep into this store and uses the full extent of it. Those who have read his more creative works will note that he doesn't use the bombastic language he uses here on ghanaweb. He has published a few poems here and they are quite good. You must admit that they are quite good. Poetry doesn't come easily to everybody but Okoampa certainly knows a thing or two about it.

3. Okoampa is notorious on ghanaweb mainly because of his rabidly bigoted views. Those things he hates, he does so with a passion. He hates Rawlings and everything that is associated with that man. So he also hates NDC and everything that is associated with that party. This means that he hates ALL Ewes (except dead ones like Major Quarshiga).

4. The things Okoampa loves, he does so with a passion too. He loves NPP and Akufo-Addo. And he believes that the Akan ethnic group in Ghana is superior to all other ethnic groups.

5. It is his peculiar loves and hatreds that make many people detest him here on ghanaweb. People don't dislike him because he uses many "big words". You cannot dislike a person because of that.

6. Anybody who has followed his writing on ghanaweb will also recognise Okoampa's deep-seated fears and worries. The greatest of these is his disappointment at the fact that he has not been accorded the recognition that he feels his literary talents deserve. Okoampa has not been celebrated like the literary giants that he admires so much. He has written many books but none of them is a text in any school in Africa. People younger than he is have had greater acknowledgement for their literary output - even in Ghana. I have in mind people like Amma Darko whose writing may not be better than Okoampa's. Okoampa tries to make up for this on ghanaweb by blowing his own horns like the agama lizard which falls down from the iroko tree. But it doesn't quite redeem him.

Oh, I am going on too much. Perhaps I should wait till after I have read the second part of his response to Justin. It may turn out to be a miniature version of Christopher Hitchen's Letters to a Contrarian or any such literary work in which a young writer is addressed by an older one.

But I have another request of Okoampa which I put in another thread.
