I am surprised by your paroquial essay, it is tibalistic, divisive and tantamount nothing.

Mahama is sowing a seed that will come back to hurt northerners. I am not in Ghana right now, but I can feel the heat just like any other Ghanaian out there. My mother live in Fian a village in the Nadowli district of the Upper West region. She told me that life is very difficult there especially healthcare and basic necessities.I have observed Mahama ever since he became president and realized that he is just incompetent. How can you just move people around when they are not performing to the satisfactory of the populace? Instead of him to hire and to fire, he is resulted to recycling of his appointees as if there are no other qualified candidates to replace the corrupt and incompetent ones. Mahama will go down as the worst president of the millennium. Look at what he even said when the occupied flag star demonstrators presented their grievances to him! "I am listening to you and will continue to listen to you" I think someone has teach him how to react or response to public anger. He doesn't know how to talk at all. He is confuse and don't know how to fix the economy. He is sitting there waiting for election time so that he will use money to buy votes. After all, he don't care about all the hardships going on in Ghana. When people mention hardships, it is like a story to him and he dare listen or not. Joseph, you have raised an important issue in your write up. The whole Ghana not just the north needs irrigation dams for farming purposes. If a government want to succeed, they must first of all encourage agriculture by lowering the importation of farm inputs. When there is plenty of foodstuff with low prices, the strike actions from public workers will probable reduce. Normally, the public servants result to strike actions when their income is not sufficient enough to buy foods and other necessities. Mahama government is full of greed. A minister taking a monthly salary of ghc9000 whereas this could be someone annual salary. We pray that God help this country and all the people there on.

Trees are holding the soil together (against erosion), and trees bring the annual rains (by their transpiration -> rising humidity -> cloud generation), trees are pumping the nutrients from the lower levels of the soil to the surface again, shedding them like fertilizer on the ground ("fertilizer trees", "nutrient pumps", "nitrogen fixation").
Trees keep Ghana fertile, without enough trees, Ghana will turn barren in mere decades, no matter how many synthetic fertilizers you'd apply.
It my sound exaggerated, but it's the truth. I'm an agric engineer from Germany.
If you want to propagate and renew trees, you also have to find alternatives to "slash and burn"-cultivation, because the burning has become too much and is killing all the small trees trying to grow from seeds: "EVERGREEN AGRICULTURE" ("Integrated Soil Fertility Management (ISFM)"), "Improved Fallows", "RainWater Harvesting", "Water Retainment" with stone lines/ Vetiver lines/ "Vetiver Terraces" along contour lines ...

It could easily be stopped via presidential decree, e.g. by stopping to give permits to take "rosewood", confiscating it at the harbour and borders, whenever the trucks arrive, punishing chiefs who give out concessions and so on.
Since that is not happening, I guess it's true that he is protecting selfish vested interest or practicing nepotism.

I voted for John Mahama is the last election. I believe he is not to blame entirely for all our problems. But I believe he is not a serious person and it was a mistake we made him president. He lacks the political will to fight corruption, something his predecessors also lacked. What is most provocative is his refusal to sack corrupt/incompetent appointees.
He has played with our emotions. To this end, I have decided not to participate in the next election at all. I see no better person in the NPP either. The other opposition parties too are not ready for power.

Our own Elite brothers have used the Northern Territory as a Conduit to Steal and unjustly enrich themselves by investing and building mansions in the South to further widen the developmental Gap between the south and the North.Talk less of GEEDA,SADA,ASONTABA etc which were packages for bridging the gap at the time our own brother from the north is having the ultimate executive powers. Better to vote for anyone else to see real improvement in our lives than to Vote for a northerner who will rather worsen our plight by using the north as a means to create loot and share.Stabbing our own self
Let vote Mahama/NDC out if we want to see any development
