Joe Tetteh, that is a deep question! It tells you the hypocrisy behind all this nonsense. The UN and its western allies are raking billions of $$$$ from the Arab nations. It also tells you the agenda they have for Muslim countries. Watch carefully. Islam is under serious attack with the active connivance of their leaders. All those leaders who took over power during the Arab spring are secretly behind it. Christianity has already had it wings clipped. No wonder the Anglican church can foolishly boast of a homosexual as its head.

Nan Kwaku: "No wonder the Anglican church can foolishly boast of a homosexual as its head."
It has done no such thing, and it's leader is definitely not gay. In fact. he is anti-gay.

Thank you Dr. Bokor for highlighting this bogus organisation for consistently doing the bidding of the US and it's so-called allieds.
For me personally, the only way this latest imposition of gay rights by the West on Africa should be dealt with is through the African Union. A resolution must be adopted by the union rejecting any form of imposition, threats, blackmail or conditions etc by the West. Member Countries, about (54) in total must pass into law any part of the gay rights they reject. This must be done enblock in all the African Parliaments to avoid one particular Country being targeted as in the case of Uganada, when the world bank threatened to withdraw a $90m loan facility granted it.
Africa must unite on this particular issue and tell the West they are not against gays, lesbians and the like but the open display and forcing others to accept them is the problem. Let the West be reminded that by Africans nature and culture, even married couples of the opposite sex don't display a lot of kissing in public. On the other hand, let Africa tell the West especially, US and UK that just as it's against their law for any man to marry more than two women, so does Africa also prohibits gays/lesbians. Enough of this nonsense by the WEST of human rights. If this is the case, then they should also stop manufacturing arms, invading Countries they disagree with, imposing sactions which affect the vulnerable. Finally, what is the US saying about the human rights of Red Indians?
Thank you.

you see- before Ghana as a Country can win her fight to protect her dignity culture and values that hold the People together we must as a Nation start doing a good organisations to manage our resource to the benefit of the People.
Economy
A developing Country like Ghana must do things in her own way that she think the People would benefit -
eg-the oil , Gold and other resources in the Country must have positive effect on the People ,so all the decade contracts that are not helping or benefiting the People must go to parliament for Review and changes
2.-All those countries who called themself developed and rich do prefer printing Money for infrastructural and social interventions than go and borrow Money the secrete is that they have good , honest and patrotic Managers in place to check off Inflation. you would never see These nations at the IMF for loans and dictatorship.
our main Problem as a Country is that we are depending on loans for living which is very unproductive. just Access families who live on loans how dependent in life they are?any Person who had been cought in loan web can never be an Independent minded
3 politician should stop making unrealistic promises-which whhen intended to fulfil them ruin the Nation and eventual landed in bad loans Agreement which affect the economy in a Long range
UN and the other so called developed and rich countries has seen that Africa countries are poor in Managements and organisations that is why they always try to dictate to you in everything

This Bokor guy is an idiot and approving his own message confirms it. Anyone blindly agreeing with him is an idiot too.

Bokor sounds like the extreme right- wing and conservative Republicans in the U.S,who hound the U.N daily for not for adhering to their brand of decadent and antiquated cultural values.
For starters, the UN is in New York City,NY,where the State Legislature passed same-sex marriage laws on July 24,2011.Thus,the UN being a guest in the city cannot break New York laws,As they say when you go to Rome,do as the Romans do. Moreover, contrary to what Bokor is implying, the U.N has not asked any nation to change its marriage laws to accommodate homosexuals. What it has demanded is that the civil and human rights of ALL citizens - including homosexuals who are also citizens in the countries they live in,should be protected.
It's surprising to hear Bokor display his ignorance, not only of the history of homosexuality in Africa, but also the works and contributions the UN and its sister institutions - IMF and the World Bank - have made and are still making towards development in Africa and other poor areas in Latin America and Asia.
Recently, the GoG announced $millions loan from the World Bank to Ghana - to build schools in mostly poor and rural areas. In almost all areas of our development whether in education, agriculture, health and technical assistance, the U.N has been there for Ghana/Africa since indepen dence. For every dollar contribution to the U.N,Ghana gets back more than $IOO.The very university that Bokor attended,Cape Coast University(if yours truly is correct),was built with partial funds and technical assistance from the UNESCO, which continue to today.
Is the UN "tettering and tottering toward irrelevance",as Bokor foolishly says? Again,he castigates the organization by foolishly opining that "I have said it several times that by its inadequacies in contemporary times, the UN has proved that it is redundant and should be blamed if anything happens to destabilize the world order and usher the world into another catastrophe." WHAT HOGWASH !!
Almost half of the African countries are engulfed in inter-ethnic or sectarian wars, with barbaric and uncivilized Africans and Arabs slaughtering each other like animals, and creating huge financial and refugee problems for the UN to deal with.Aside from the refugee headache, the UN has sent thousands of Peacekeepers to all over the world ,to protect civilians and to maintain some semblance of order in the Middle East,Darfur,South Sudan,Somalia,Congo-Brazaville, DRC,Chad,Mali,Guinea,Libya,Kenya and Burundi. And Bokor should not forget UN's support for refugees from Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Ivory Coast. Is this the UN that's irrelevant?
Bokor, like other educated Africans whose minds are deeply cemented with
backward and useless traditional values(and find it difficult to erase - despite all that enlightened education has brought them)that are regressive and strongly averse to change in Africa.
This problem is also compounded by decades of brainwashing by false prophets who use the Bible for only one purpose - that is to make money;and by antiquated cultural institutions like chieftaincy, which to maintain its parasitic lifestyle, promotes and reinforces cultural backwardness in this 21st Century in order to survive - at the expense of the larger population.
Had Bokor done his research before writing this, he would have found out that the first recorded history of homosexuality on this planet, took place in Africa,in the palace of the Pharaoh in Egypt, some 2,5OO years ago .Well before the whiteman came to Africa, African ethnic groups in Libya(Berbers),Ghana(Akans),Nigeria(Fulani and Igbo),Ethiopia(Oromo,Amhara),and in southern Africa(the Bantus),had been practicing some forms of homosexuality in the continent.
This should put to rest the false propaganda and assumptions by some ignorant folks - that the WHITEMAN brought homosexuality to Africa. South Africa is the only African country that has laws protecting homosexuals and allows same-sex marriages. These laws are enshrined in their constitution - the only one in the world. Are South Africans not Africans and live in Africa? Did the sky fall on them when they gave the same freedoms enjoyed by heterosexuals to homosexuals?
Yours truly stands with Kofi Annan, Wole Soyinka,Archbishop Tutu,Nadine Gordimer,Nelson Mandela and the Pope ("Who am I to judge"), as well as other enlightened Africans - in supporting the rights of all Africans to choose their own partners.
Africa is the richest continent and yet the poorest in development. Why? A LOT GOT TO DO WITH CULTURAL BACKWARDNESS,AVERSE TO CHANGE, INSTITUTIONALIZED TRIBALISM,SELFISH AND GREEDY LEADERSHIP,FRAUDULENT PASTORS AND MALLAMS,JUJU,WORSHIPING OF SATANIC GODS,AND ANTIQUTATED CHIEFTAINCY.
These are the retrogressive factors that have condemned Africans to perpetual poverty and underdevelopment. Africa NEEDS the UN,
and not vice versa.
(A heterosexual who supports gay rights).

Bokor: "But that pursuit should be situated within the context of that individual cultural and social origin and preferences. At least, the human being has an origin to defer to."
Why would the rights of individuals depend on their cultural origin? That directly contradicts the statement in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that all people are born equal in dignity and rights. It leads to the racist view that Africans are lesser human beings.
Do cultures have rights that override the those of living, breathing people? Do cultures have rights at all?

Bokor: "Records show that Britain's David Cameron and the US' Barack Obama have made attempts to threaten African leaders opposed to gay/homosexual rights, going to the extent of tying aid to such issues."
It's their money. Why can't they decide how to spend it? More precisely, it's tax money. Why should gay and lesbian Britons and Americans pay their full share of taxes to promote discrimination against their brothers and sisters in Africa?
The truth is that the recent waves of homophobia in Africa are the results of African and neo-colonial US preachers who see it as a profitable business for them, and African politicians who see it as a useful diversion from their corruption and incompetence.
Sub-Saharan Africa was much more tolerant of sexual diversity until Islamic and Christian colonizers spread their anti-sex attitudes and laws.
It appears some donor countries are also cutting aid to us on the basis of this very issue.
