  Okoampa, are you sure Bernth Lindfors is German born? The name sounds very Swedish. Lindfors is as common a surname among the Swedes as Asamoah or Osei are among the Akan in Ghana. Bernth is also common in Sweden spelt variously as Bernt or Bengt. I won't be surprised if Bernth Lindfors is Swedish, rather than German, born.
  
  Of course, the Swedes are very close to the Germans historically and culturally and have many names fashioned after German ones. Even the Swedish language, like Norwegian, Danish, Dutch and English, are very Germanic. But surely Lindfors has a Swedish origin?
  
  As for Achebe's last memoirs, I doubt if Gibbs has anything to reveal about it that has not already been said about that heavily criticised work. He may not even be the first to cast doubts as to the authenticity of the writing. Achebe was rather old, frail, tired in both body and spirit when that work was completed. Others certainly helped him in finishing it off before he died. The work looks hastily put up in many places. The hands of the helpers (editors?) shows.
  
  "The tongue does not rot". Okoampa, why would anybody take that literally?

  Of course, a "Swede" can be born anywhere and keep his surname - even in Ghana. And there are many US citizens with roots in Sweden who have kept their surnames - like most people born in the US since that country is a countr ...

  The question I am just asking Okoampa is if he is sure Lindfors was really born in Germany - Yes or No. I am not suggesting in any way that he cannot be born in Germany or anywhere else.

  "Personally, I believe that the first requirement of every serious writer is the need to select one or two major subjects that one considers to be worthy of public discourse..."
  
  Kwasia!!
  
  Writers write on TOPICS (specific issues of interest), not on subjects (broad ideas), unless they are writing books (but who wants to read BOOKS on Ghanaweb?)

  If this is how Ph.Ds write, then I thank God that am not a Ph.D. This writer is so full of himself. Note how he has stopped using the name of his employers lately? I think they fired him for apparent stupidity.
