We see in Iraq/Syria the announce of the Islamic caliphate state and their map which now includes Ghana and the whole of West Africa .Most people are ignorant of the fact that unlike in Christianity and other religions whereby the leaders or priests are men of peace in Islam their imams or priests advocate for war and destruction of the non believers and when war starts every single one of them assumes the title emir and becomes the captain of a murderous horde as we saw in Libya and with the boko haram. The mosque is not only a place of worship but an army fortress or barracks and that is why they must in the design in every area which is not predominately Muslim its required to have a tall reconnaissance tower. we see in Accra and other places these mosques spring up all over the place at militarily very strategic positions but we are vigilant and when our bloody revolution starts we will raze all these structures to the ground and drive out this menace from our midst . There are some brainwashed idiotic fools who still believe mahama has good intentions but don't know he is a Muslim disguised as a christian which Islam allows and his only agenda is to weaken with corruption and destroy with negligence the Akan economy so the caliphate can be achieved that is why no project of strategic importance can see the light of day under his watch.As for the Ewes his partners in crime all i can say is have you ever wondered why when you go to Togo there the Ewes are very nice people and true African brothers but the moment you cross the Aflao border into Ghana the ayigbe wickedness , hate and evil starts? No, even if that position leads to making illogical arguments. The basis of the asylum claim by our countrymen in Brazil is unfounded and Sarpong knows this but for pure partisan expediency, chooses to ignore this basic fact. Their claim is not based on the economic conditions in the country but on a non-existent religious persecution.

Kofi Atah, an expert in International Human Rights, knows what he is talking about. The government's request for the asylum seekers to sent back is obviously ill-advised. The Brazilian government should be allowed to deal with the asylum request as a sovereign nation and come to whatever determination she makes a nation. International laws govern such requests.

Let's take our domestic partisan political positions out of this.

Was Mr. Christian talking to Joy FM as an individual Ghanaian or he was enunciating the administration's policy?

Struggling developing countries shouldn't make it a habit of fleeing to more successful economies to seek asylum, whether it is Guatemalan, or El Salvadorian children running to the US, or Ghanaian asylum seekers in Brazil. My candid opinion is that the Central American children as well as the 200 Ghanaians should go back to their countries, and formally apply to be admitted legally. I am just worried about the spread of diseases.

It is rather pathetic the so-called asylum seekers did not do their homework thoroughly before embarking on their quest. It is also a shame they could not comprehend the sentiments driving the anti-world cup protests that has bedevilled Brazilian society which simply is the degree of poverty that underscores the lives of the majority of the people whilst billions have been expended to host the world cup.

With Brazil faring badly, one wonders how deep the ill-feelings will go. Brazil has its share of dirt poor people so these asylum seekers must have jumped from the proverbial frying pan into the fire.

In all spheres of life one is bound to see two types of people; the proactive and reactive. The former endeavours to find solutions to an evolving problem before it becomes a crisis whilst the latter only wakes up to the reality after the situation has snowballed out of control.

Anyone who is very objective and not intent on rubbishing the Mahama administration just to score a political point will agree that his action to fly money to Brazil was proactive. At other side of the coin is not doing what he did and the players refusing to honour the match against Portugal. The ensuing sanctions will not be exclusively on the national team, it will also have a drastic bearing of Ghana so this fixation with shame of the Government flying money to Brazil is nothing but the uninformed desperate to to give validity to their misplaced anger.

Lets say good riddance and wish them BON VOYAGE to the favelas of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo where they will ultimately end up as the Brazilian government will definitely not relocate them to any 4 Star hotel.It has its share of the under privileged it cannot take care of.

My fellow, OKATAKYIE SARPONG, although, I do agree with your argument on the basis of Massa Kofi Ata's point, following Ghana Government's official request to send the 200 asylum seekers back to Ghana. Ultimately, the final decision has to be taken by Brazilian Government.

However, placed in the context of this "totally bogus" claim of citing 'religious persecution', I don't think Ghana Government's request will necessarily support and strengthen their asylum claim in Brazil. Importantly, Brazil will have to analyse their claims in a very serious and responsible way in line with UN's Asylum Convention and Law before either granting them asylum or returning them to Ghana.

If their asylum claim is discovered to be a ridiculous lie or totally bogus, I think Brazil will send them back to Ghana. After all, Ghana Government is NOT considered a dictatorship or an oppressive regime, where the failed claimants face being tortured if returned. And, even if their claim is found to be bogus, will Brazil be so generous and grant them asylum on humanitarian grounds? I don't think so. Brazil will not want to be seen as a "soft touch" for bogus asylum claims as it prepares to host the Olympic Games after this World Cup event.

Sadly, this reflects badly on Ghana. Ghana's reputation is at stake.

I haven't bothered to comment on the unfolding shambles in Brazil, not being a football fan. I was going to comment on the bogus asylum claims though but when I read the lame duck NDC govt making the right quacks, I said to myself they'd manage this one properly. That's why I am vehemently disagreeing too with Wofa Kofi Ata and Sarpong that the statement by the Chief Director Kojo Christian provides a basis, post-factum, not a priori, for granting asylum to those charlatans and wretched opportunists.

To even go further that relatives can get some tabloid to plant stories that they'd be prosecuted and imprisoned simply actually is just a throwback to the dirty tactics some dubious Ghanaians from the writer's 'hood used during the PNDC time to get asylum, with outrageous tales of possibility of being thrown into the sea for crocodiles to eat as if we have crocs in Ghana's coastal water!

It is in the interest of the rest of us sane people with a conscience and a sense of shame that the govt comes out robustly to denounce those selfish dupes and cooperate fully with the Brazilian authorities to expose their lies. But I don't think there is any law in Ghana under which they can be prosecuted successfully upon their return. The PNDC didn't prosecute some of those jerks who were deported from Europe. They said worst things directly against the PNDC regime.

The Brazilians are not stupid, can find out what's happening in Ghana and so shall come to the right conclusion and action they are comfortable with. If they are well educated people with some skills, why not, let us have them; one better than 20 blacks without education in the favelas, they might reason.

Government request for deportation was grounded on the fact that those Ghanaians took "tourist visas" for 90 days from the Brazilian Embassy. If things were bad in their home country, why would they take a "tourist visa"? Mind you before visas are issued, embassies goes to pains to check your financial capacity before issuing out visa on that category. The minister's realization of the ultra vires of Kenpong and co came at a later stage when the fake and genuine supporters were deliberately lump together on three outgoing flights. Options available to the minister was to have abrogated the entire contract right there or to refuse to perform some of the responsibilities of his part of the contract and that's what he chose to do by refusing to pay Kenpong and ignoring his calls. This is legal sense

- they entered Brazil with visitor passports; they are now making in-country sham asylum/refuge application; they would fail in Brazil and in any other State

- Ghana do not need to go looking for them; Brazil would remove them back to Ghana if they over stay their visa visit

My brother,not all asylum seekers qualify for asylum.Fist of all,an applicant has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he/she is being persecuted in his/her home country.Now,were the 200 hundred cheerful Black stars supporters,who were sponsored by the Ghana government being persecuted in Ghana? The answer is NO.Is there any ongoing war in Ghana where people are fleeing for their lives ? The answer is NO.From the foregoing,it is doubtful if any of the applicants will qualify for asylum.It is important to note that during the processing of their Asylum cases,all the 200 hundred Ghanaians will be scheduled for separate interviews by Immigration officers and each one has to show EVIDENCE of PERSECUTION which will be investigated before an asylum is granted.It must be emphasized that proof of PERSECUTION is critical.In the case of these Black stars supporters,fear of Government prosecution and imprisonment in Ghana are irrelevant issues.For instance,if it is found that one of the Black Stars supporters committed murder or embezzled 10 million dollars from the Bank of Ghana before he/she left for Brazil does he/she qualify for asylum in Brazil? Over to you Justice Sarpong.

EXACTLY TRUE But now calling for their deportation and some government officials calling for their prosecution is grounds for asylum.

In seeking for asylum, one doesn't have to prove that he has been prosecuted. All one has to show is fear of being prosecuted and these people can now get newspapers clips showing government intents to prosecute them.

When some women from other countries seek asylum in western countries for fear of female circumscision, they don't have to show that they have been personally be targeted but that their culture calls for them to go through that process. FEAR plays a large part in granting asylum.

What the government has done wrong is to tell the Brazilian government to deport them. The Brazilian government would have conducted its own investigation and come into conclusion that, these people applied for asylum with false information and deported them.

Now it is being reported in the news by government officials to prosecute and jail them when they come to Ghana. Believe me, fear of being prosecuted is grounds for granting asylum, ask any immigration lawyer and if these people can get information which are being reported in websites on daily newspapers, such an evidence can booast their chances of getting asylum.

It is up to the Brazilian Government to grant or refuse them asylum. But these people have not made any case against the Government of Ghana that any honest foreign Government could use it grant them asylum.

They simply lied about the situation in Ghana. And the Ghanaian Government has the right to question them for that kind of deliberate maligning of the Nation. That does not amount to persecution.

What laws have they broken? In seeking for asylum status, one only has to prove fear of prosecution for doing something similar that somebody has done. So far nobody can prove that these people have broken any law.
