This author has rightly captured the antticidents leading to the present brouhaha but his topic is a oxymoron on the issue of lecturers. we are not inventors. Neither is the B & R allowance aimed to turn us into some.He has forgotten the case of Albert Einstein. This man had to work only in the science archival office only before he had access to magazines, notes and scholarly works, before he was able to make a contribution in science. So without such B& R will be unable to access even journal to read. He must come again!!!!

You must know that knowledge is not confined within the four walls of a university class room block. Unfortunately you people have tried to hijack anything lucrative in Ghana with nothing to show for it. This is what has exposed academicians to public ridicule. Academicians are supposed to write books yet ours in Ghana are so useless that most professors cannot even write books. When it comes to management, the least said about Ghanaian professors the better; Prof Ameyaw Akumfi and Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman are clear examples of incompetence at the highest level.

Stop this thing about Einstein never going to university. The technical school he went to is the equivalent of a university. Only the name was different. If he had attended a "normal" university of only humanities and social sciences, he would have studied things that would never have led him to his scientific theories. True, the man was a natural genius but he still had connections with a university or university-equivalent institution - and he had it throughout his career.

Could someone help make a distinction between Academic Research to enhance teaching and learning AND Industrial Research. How are established RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS like CSIR, BRRI, SARI etc being resourced.

But what is Kwesi about this time? As usual, you fail to see what he really means. Is it at the tail-end of his paper? That the National Research Fund is a good idea and needs a re-look? If so, how does that come out from all ... read full comment
