Nyantakyi is a disgrace who has brought the office of the GFA into disrepute. He should therefore not be allowed to contest the next elections.

Randy Abbey for GFA President ?????????? Come on, is he joking? Forget it.
To begin with, he is too politically aligned to take up this job. I believe he currently works in the office of the President - or one of those thoroughly discredited political outfits? This alone is a bad testimonial which will not work in his favor. The prejudicial sentiments that will gang up against him will render his administration comatose, even before he starts the job - that is, assuming he ever becomes the GFA President.
In any case, I think with all honesty and impartiality that, Nyantakyi is good enough for the job for now. Frankly, I dont see anyone within football circles in Ghana, perhaps with the singular exception of Abra-Appiah (PLB?), who is eligible and can fit the bill of a new GFA President. But being a very principled and elderly gentleman, is Abra-Appiah ready to countenance the kind of nonsense that goes with being the President of the GFA? Lets admit it, there are too many bull-shiters hovering in and around the administration of sports - particularly of football, in Ghana.
Advisedly, it will therefore be better to maintain Nyantakyi, because looking around at the kind of people vying for the job, things can only get worse with them, and not better.
For those who say that Nyantakyi has kept too long as the head of the GFA, I say to them that, on this subject matter, the longer the person serves, the more experienced, more useful and more efficient they become - just like old wine.
More importantly is the likely possibility of such an experienced person gaining access into and being consecrated the hallowed ranks of the executive status of FIFA where all the wheeling and dealing of global football shenanigans take place. And mind you, we are not talking about playing ring-a-ring-roses or kwani-kwani here.
The administration of a semi-autonomous, semi-international organization like the GFA might on the surface look as simple as running local teams such as Hearts of Oak or Kotoko. It is not. In fact it is several worlds apart. The attachment of the GFA to one of the most powerful international organizations in the world today – the FIFA, comes with a fiercely guarded autonomy that is hinged on its own set of unyielding ethical practices and implacable legal regimes. It comes along with exquisite diplomatic practices that would make the Ghana Ministry of Foreign Affairs look like Sodom and Gomorrah in comparison.
A few upstart and uninformed govts around the world, have belatedly and shamefacedly discovered to their utter dismay and sorrow that one cannot mess around with FIFA nor its local national organizations. The option of defying FIFA, amounts to a life-sentence of self-condemnation into the obscure and uninspiring ranks of local football games. The penalties of this verdict can be so harsh that the development and the excitement that comes with football will be completely stifled.
One cannot imagine or even contemplate the public backlash of a Black Stars team or any of our local club teams, that cannot even play with our next door neighbours, Togo or the Ivory Coast. Such is the power that FIFA wields in global football.
In a world where football has become the measuring rod of self-importance, power and national pride for the overwhelming masses of the world, such a scenario, simply put, would be inconceivable, intolerable and disastrous in Ghana.
Some of the more impetuous govts who have as much as dared to confront FIFA, have ended up with burnt fingers and beating a hasty retreat with their tails shamefully ensconced in-between their legs.
A casual glance at the history of the performance of football administrators all over the world tells me that experience does the trick more than anything else. We should therefore open our eyes wide and learn from other similar circumstances.
For those clowns and envious spoil-sports who say that Nyantakyi is corrupt, I am yet to hear of one honest single factual case of corruption against him to prove their spiteful and childish accusations. It has become a bad habit for Ghanaians to hurl invectives of corruption at successful people in high authority – even when they don’t have any proof. As for me even though I cannot say that Nyantakyi is not corrupt, I cannot in the same vein cross my heart and say that he is corrupt without any facts to prove it.
Until we can for good reasons, find a replacement that is as good or better than Nyantakyi, lets not rock the boat. Ghana, in spite of all odds, has reached a respectable stature of world football. The only way we can improve upon that - or at the very minimum maintain that level, is to maintain a sensible, cool and disciplined composure that will enable us to adopt effective strategies to reach the highest levels of the sport in the world.
This aspiration is within reach and we should not mess with it.
We should take a cue from the senseless coup d’état of 1966 that was also based on spite, envy, jealousy, political greed, misinformation and ignorance - and the terrible aftermath which we as a country have had to suffer and live with up till today. Lets not joke with the issue. Lets tread carefully in a matured and principled manner.

That was a nice one, Shabi, even if on the longish side for a comment. I don't know the personalities involved but you made a good point that experience from long stay at the job is important in national and global football administration. This long exposure may be beneficial to the individual personally but those benefits can spread to the national association he represents.
The administration of football at the topmost level, FIFA, is a thoroughly corrupt affair. The other organisations are only a bit better - UEFA, CAN, etc. Any person who represents Ghana must know the ropes well. If it is Nyantakyi, then so be it especially since the rivals don't seem to be any better. Ten years at the top of a football administration is not too long. Havelange was there for 24 years, Sepp Blatter wants another term after being there for 16 years even though he is now 78, and as for Issa Hayatou, you'll need a crane to remove him from the African post even though he has been there for the past 26 years and is "only" 67.
But let Nyantakyi win an open and free election and let him distance himself from partisan politics even though it was that which got him there in the first place. He doesn't need that anymore since FIFA will back him in any politically driven assault on him. But he must also start producing renewed successes.
Well, one thing goes good for Nyantakyi: he speaks pretty good English, methinks...

Kweku, I also generally agree with you on most of your points but there is one thing that we must all consider. This is the issue about the allegations of corruption leveled against FIFA.
Mind you, I do not wish to subscribe to any possible acts of corruption by FIFA or any other entity anywhere. But, I, from where I sit, cannot substantiate nor confirm any acts of corruption by FIFA and I would advise you to take that stance if your situation is similar to mine.
Those who are shouting over roof-tops about corruption in FIFA, randomly commit, on a daily basis, acts of genocide around the world and have no moral authority to accuse others of less sinful acts of corruption.
We have to open our eyes wide to recognize the fact that their inability to control FIFA as they wish, may be the source of their anguish over concerns in the FIFA organization.
Now whilst apologizing for my previous long contribution, it must be explained that it has become necessary to sometimes make lengthy contributions because, generally, many of our people (Ghanaians) do not make the necessary effort to read far and wide and are therefore not conversant with the full details and therefore the practices and substance of some albeit, popular subjects such as the one at hand - football.
An opportunity to contribute on the Ghanaweb platform, offers a chance to connoisseurs to air more concise and precise views and opinions which may have been digested from a broad spectrum of sources to others who may have varying, conflicting or no views at all on a particular subject.
Ultimately, the important thing is that we must be careful not to allow ourselves to be captivated by ignorance or swallowed up by the misapplication and politicization of the word ‘corruption’ or any other views about the world, for narrow partial interests by competing actors on the world scene.

Nyantekyi needs to fully assess what has transpired and point us in a direction that can diffuse the current situation. Kwesi Appiah is not the best coach for the Stars,
The Germans beat everyone except us and they are the world champions. So the heart of every Ghanaian is bleeding for what could have been if we had Coach Milovan Rajevac at this world-cup.
Presently, we as a nation, are paying
for Mr. Nyantekyi's failure to provide a coach who can manage affairs on and off the field with enough gravitas to hold these pampered Ghana international players in a patriotic mindset.
If the central role of the GFA is to run the local league and manage the national team, then why are we dealing with insubordinate players and an entire president coming out to give assurances to players before a game at the World Cup.
Did Rawlings, Kuffour or Mills(RIP) deal with any such "crap" during their tenures.
Who the hell are we kidding?
If Mr. Nyantekyi has any brains left, he would do everything in his power to bring Mr. Milovan Rajevac back to the national team as Coach.
Kwesi Appiah is a good coach but he is inconsistent and lacks fore-sight. His record with the Black Stars prove it. If you do not think so, then explain to yourself why he had to bring in Jordan Ayew and take-out KPB because the Germans took-out Jerome. Also, when we were ahead by two goals to one, the Germans brought-in Schweingsteiger and Klose to help them score. But, Appiah brought-in Agyeman-Badu and Wakaso, which showed that he was not willing to protect our lead by bringing on two additional defenders to shift our posture to a 2-4-4 formation with two additional defenders in the midst to protect our lead. Instead he was planning to beat the Germans by more goals and the changes he made proves his mind set. So, we were lucky to get the 2-2 draw in that game because the German forwards got stronger towards the end and got their equalizer.
Again, when we played the USA, Coach Appiah did not have a plan to salvage a draw game when the score was tied at 1-1 in the 83rd minute, instead the players were still trying to win it and any fool could see that luck was not on our side if it had taken us more than 80 minutes to find an equalizer.
So he should be kept as an assistant to Milovan Rajevac. Keep all the players if you want, they will not be revolting under him and Muntari can suck his thumb and shut-up. Rajevac can keep them in check.
Ghana needs a coach who is grounded enough to perceive our areas of weakness and protect us but also strong enough to capitalize on our obvious potential for greatness.
So, Mr. Nyantekyi, I do not know how long the president is willing to let you keep hurting the nation with your cheap solutions.
The lesson hear for Mr. GFA is that we went to Fifa World-Cup 2006, lost to Brazil in the round of 16. Coach Ratomir Djukovic Salary $45000.00 Per. Month.
Then, we went to Fifa World-Cup 2010, lost to Uruguay in the quarter-finals. Coach Milovan Rajevac Salary $60,000.00 Per. Month.
Then, we went to Fifa World-Cup 2014, Did not get out of the group stage. Coach Kwesi Appiah Salary $20,000.00 Per. Month.
Lesson: You cannot climb a mountain with cheap equipment. Good football cost a lot of money. So stop being cheap and hire Milovan Rajevac again.
