  What will come to your mind when Punjab or Punjabi is mentioned? It's very simple, in the traditional Areas of Punjab in the Volta Region are living the most primitive Folks in Ghana. Another Name for those inhabitants is "The Yahoos" meaning the primitive People.
  Bokor is a Punjab. "Kwasea" !!!

  Ghana will be sold to the highest bidder by this government before leaving office. Punjab is a region or whatever in India. I do not know too much about them but, why inviting them while we have farmers who can do the job with some help from the government? Also, whose land will the government give to them? We should remember that when it comes to land issues, our chiefs have some important row to play.
  
  I remember Kufuor saying that any politician who will venture into farming will receive $20,000 and that statement met "cold shoulders" and Mahama is doing the same this time by inviting foreigners to role out our land for them. Look, do we know who we are as Ghanaians and what we need to do to be proud of ourselves?
  
  I know we have had cordial relationship with India for a long time but that should not be translated into this gesture. Our land is ours and should be protected from foreign invasion if that is the right word.

  Much of the land in India is no longer arable because of the massive use of fertilizers and GMOs embraced by the Indians. The use of GMOs prevents the reproduction of seeds. New seeds have to be purchased from the Multis like Monsanto after each harvest. Many Indian farmers are committing suicide because they are heavily into debt to these poisonous multinationals like Monsanto. Instead of selling of the state assets one by one, why doesn't the Mahama Mafia stop its pretense and diabolic intrigues and put the whole of Ghana up for sale?!

Not every party member can take on his party for doing the wrong thing or attempting to do the wrong thing. It is very sad if the story is true. Like the writer said, let us wait for the government´s side of the story. Who gave Dagadu the powers to go there and be talking about that,knowing very well the land tenure problems in Ghana? Whose land are they eyeing for that? By the way, I want Mahama and his allies to tell me if Pujabi farmers are better than Ghanaians farmer! Why do we set aside a "farmers day" by the way? Is it not to encourage them to do more? What a waste of people calling themselves politicians! I urge anyone, whose land would be targeted for such bogus project to resit and resit to the limit, and we will all support such a person.Is Mahama normal in his head? Pathetic! How I wished there is any better opposition party to give my vote!

  Who ever this writer is he is very typical of many Ghanaians who think we can do everything our selves. In 57 years we still cannot feed our selves and this Michael Bokor believes Ghanaian farmers can do what the Indians can do. They are self sufficient in food production and there is more than 1 billion of them against our 25 million. How many initiatives have there been since 1957 to be self sufficient in food. We cannot do it. We spend close to a $1billion on food imports and Ghanaians are protesting about an initiative to increase food production. Good heavens what needs to happen in Ghana before we start thinking with our heads?

  We have thousands of unemployed youth in the rural areas who have turned to small-scale illegal mining (galamsey) because of unavailability of jobs. A sensible government would train these youths and assist them with fertile land and implements to go into farming Instead you have government making secret deals for resettlement of India's poor farmers in Ghana under a ruse. Just when will these politicians learn? We've already got the problem of illegal Chinese miners invading Ghana and polluting our water bodies. Govt is unable to do anything about it because of the corrupt loan deals they have made with China. Now they are going to bring Indian farmers to teach us farming? We've been farming since the days God put us on this land called Ghana and now Mahama and his criminals are going to make a deal to give away our lands to foreigners?
  
  Indian farmers are ruined because they embraced GMOs and can no longer farm their lands as they used to. They're committing suicide by the hundreds and we are now going to re-settle them here like Ghanaians don't need land to farm? How far will our politicians go to sell the sovereignty of this country and everything else in it for a few pennies in their pockets?

May be the foreigners pay the politicians better bribes (in $) than the Ghanaians who pay in Cedis!It is all about how much money the politicians can pocket in the process. Period. It is not about building the skills right here in Ghana.

  I think Borkor is crying wolf where there is non.Our difficulty is that press freedom and freedom of speech has come to mean criticizing anything just for the sake of criticism without a dispassionate assessment.What is wrong in partnership arrangements.Why can't we take advantage of others expertise to revolutionize our agricultural set up.
  
  Without knowing what the government has in mind and the terms on which these farmers will participate in our agricultural set up we will be wrong to criticize.
  
  for example we could ask for their investment only based on a majority Ghanaian shareholding and to only give them lands that Ghanaians are not interested.We could give them terms that will be most beneficial to Ghana and the agricultural system in Ghana and so forth.
  
  What is important is the terms of bringing these expertise into our agricultural set up and how much it is going to be beneficial to us as a nation.To start shouting wold without knowing the term under which these farmer will be brought into our farming set up is an abomination.

  Timely and VERY important report. The damage to the social fabric is huge, and there will be a backlash. When they take land away from indigenous to give to foreigners, the indigenous end up in slums in the cities. It is particularly hard on females, who have less education and are vulnerable to predators.
  
  There are many bad examples of this in other parts of Africa. The elites benefit through bribes or commissions or associated service businesses, but the country suffers.
  
  And DO NOT allow GMO's in -- there are sustainable methods that keep people on their land being productive.
  More men and women need to study this type of agriculture, and not the GMO driven model. A rich history and culture is tied to every village, which has knowledge of medicines and local plants, and folklore. All gets lost because these aspects are never counted in.
