Yes,I am not a spokesman for Ashesi University but I have an answer for you.The answer to your question is YES because there is overwhelming evidence that the BLACKMAN is too irresponsible and incapable of managing anything.

If I compare honor code schools, which are usually private, with Finnish state schools, one can see that Finnish schools use no honor code, but emphasize equality for students. They seem to learn well in a free and accepting environment. Bullying is still a problem though. Students, true, must police themselves, in learning and behaviour.
They must not allow bullying, but include all students as equal members in their learning quest.

Our moral degeneration has reached its ground zero. It has taken many years to get this low. Nobody cares any more. Corruption, dishonesty, stealing, lying and cheating have become the new norm. There are still good men left in Ghana. The problem is evil prevails whenever good men choose passiveness over doing something to check societal rot and decay. It's not too late to do something. One can sign an honour code without honouring later.The best solution is,a strong and robust judiciary.Jail corrupt ministers,confiscate the assets of their kids and family members who may benefit from corrupt ministers.

I agree entirely with you. The honor code is just the beginning. In addition there has to be more transparency and accountability at all levels of society. We have to build stronger and more independent state institutions that will prosecute criminals within the system. In order to do this we need to amend portions of the 1992 Constitution that puts too much power in the hands of one person, the president.
Have you ever wondered why the right to information bill is still gathering dust on the shelves after ten years probation in parliament and still counting without it being passed into law? For how long are lawmakers going to keep dragging their feet on this important law that is meant to introduce some transparency and accountability into the transaction of public business and what are their reasons for the delay if any? The immediate ex governor of Virginia Bob McDonnel and his wife Maureen are charged in a 14 count indictment with accepting more than $165, 000 in gifts and loans from one Williams, a businessman in exchange for their help in promoting his ccompany's products. The ex governor and his wife if convicted on all counts will spend decades in prison. Is this not transparency and accountability at work? Corruption and other social vices will always be with us but we must tackle them head-on if we're to build a progressive and prosperous nation with equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunities for all our citizens.

For instance, it is estimated that $7.32 billion in capital drained out of the country illicitly through trade misinvoicing from 2002–2011. This money represents significant lost domestic investment opportunities and, combined with illicit inflows of another $7.07 billion during the same period, may have led to $3.86 billion in lost government revenue.

Moreover, everyone who is found culpable should be dealt with since we are not above the law but what do we see, they are always shield either by colleagues or top government officials. The honour code must be properly introduced and taken into strict consideration.

This should be a must read Article by every Ghanaian. Most of the Ghanaians educated in the USA know exactly what you are writing about. Unfortunately the people in charge do not seem to care. What a shame. Great article
