Lawrence, I cannot believe you had the confidence to state the above. Unless, you do not believe in democracy or you take the Ghanaian electorate for granted, what you said is tantamount to living in a fool's paradise.

Lawrence, let's analyse the facts or reality on the grounds. The Ghanaian electorate has shown since 1992 that it is capable of changing the party/president in government. NDC/Rawlings served two terms and the electorate changed NDC for NPP. NPP/Kufuor also served the maximuM two terms and again, the electorate replaced NPP with NDC in 2008. This was at a time when both the micro and macro economic indicators in Ghana were relatively better than now.

So what makes you think that under the current economic mess, the electorate will maintain NDC/Mahama in power in 2016?

If the above two-terms and you are out is a practice set by the electorate to be relied on as a guide to the future, then NDC should be worried and not be deceiving yourselves that come what may NDC will win in 2016. What I am not sure is whether the the practice or norm of two terms and a change could be applied to political parties or simply the office holder. If it is the former, then NDC's two terms will come to an end in 2016 and would be replaced by NPP. However, if it relates to the office holder (president), then Mahama has served one term and could be given another by the electorate. Unfortunately, that may be unlikely in view of the economic mess he and his team have created, though if the President's promises of greener future is to be believed then he could be given a second term if things improve by 2016.

I am also not sure whether the voting pattern since 1992 is any indication of voters' decisions being based on bread and better issues. If that were the case then NDC's chances in 2016 are limited unless Mahama performs an economic miracle between now and December 2016.

In conclusion, the reality is that by the voting pattern, the Ghanaian electorate has proven beyond any reasonable doubt that one party rule is not something to be entertained in a democracy. For that reason, your claim above is naive and takes the electorate for granted. If this the view within NDC then the NDC does so at its own peril.

2016 will prove one of us right and the other wrong but whatever happens, I do not believe that one party rule will return to Ghana because power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Just imagine NDC having monopoly of political power in Ghana. GYEEDA, SADA, SUBAH, Woyome will be the order of the day. May God forbid.

If wishes were horses beggars, drunks and the blind will ride. Both Nana Akuffo Addo and Alan Kyeremanten will do a far better job with the presidency than what John Mahama has so far done in four years. How long should we allow Mahama to learn on the job? The "fierce urgency of now"can no longer accommodate a learner on the job. According to your own NDC sources he was ill-prepared for the job and wasn't going to be ready till 2020. Sorry. Enough of the foolishness. Obama chose to visit Ghana when he was elected president because of the 8 years transformational leadership of President Kuffuor and the NPP administration.
