Seriously when country is hosting FIFA gives it money to prepare, what happens is that most govts get involved because it benefits them and they need to update their facilities generally, FIFA don't give money for roads but you need a good road leading and around the stadium, and sometimes the govt wants to impress because the whole world is watching. Its an honour to host world cup. With Cameroun, go check your facts well.

Appearance fees are not for GFA public servants, whose salaries and wages are paid from the public purse (the taxpayer), period.

Apart from the footballers, any other GFA official who was paid or has ever been paid appearance fees should be made to refund that money to the GFA, and whoever sanctioned such payments (GFA PRESIDENTS) must face a court trial and be jailed, with their properties confiscated.

This must include, but not limited to, successive GFA Presidents and their cronies beneficiaries of this fraudulent practice.

But reading the article and trying hard to understand this indigestible article, I came to realize that at the center of this article is a claim with no quotes and which also could not be directly be attributed to Ayariga, the person whose words this writer chose as his proof of witness. I feel for those unknowing victims who consumed this article, digest it and decided to comment on it

Approved Black Stars budget not a loan – Ayariga

Information Minister Mahama Ayariga says the approved $9.8m for the Black Stars’ campaign at the 2014 World Cup is a grant and not a loan.

This means the government will not be demanding the return of these funds when FIFA awards Ghana its share of the price money for the 2014 World Cup.

The Ghana FA was made to pay the over $11m realized after Ghana’s quarter final finish at the last World Cup in South Africa back into government’s chest.

The government claimed it only pre-financed Ghana’s campaign at the tournament and therefore was entitled to collect the returns made since it is the main financier of all the national teams.

The state approved about $19m for the last World Cup in South Africa.

And though all the approved allocation was not exhausted, the Ghana FA were made to return the financial gains made after the tournament four years ago.

This fuelled the expectation that a similar directive will be issued to the Ghana FA when it receives its gains from FIFA after the upcoming World Cup in Brazil – following another approved budget for the Black Stars’ campaign.

But government spokesman Mahama Ayariga says the state does not expect any refund for the approved World Cup budget.

I believe they should all be prosecuted for CAUSING FINANCIAL LOSS TO THE STATE. So Afriyie Ankrah wants to tell us that the GFA officials who did not even know the players had not had training for two consecutive days are worth the same as the players? And they are to be remunerated equally as the players?
