He may win a few minds with his handicapped logic but that kind of solicitation sounds to me like a pre-emptive refuge in the culture of entitlement. It's only losers who make claims to privileges they don't deserve. When I hear such unintelligent argument from a presidential aspirant then I know he's not ready for prime time. I shake my head and wanna puke. I struggle to resist muttering some sort of expletive.
People don't notice this pervasive home grown entitlement culture because it is a far more top down than a down up movement.
Yesterday Katakyie made one more ludicrous appeal for Alan. He wrote :"This is Alan's time. Let's do him a favor". No! No candidate for the highest office in the land deserves to be handed the nomination on a silver platter. Each of them has to compete for the nomination and we, the people, deserve to do ourselves the favor of nominating the best of the candidates to contest for the presidency. Doing any candidate a favor with the nomination means he's not qualified for the job he's applying for. Too often we've shortchanged ourselves by doing the favor to the candidate instead of doing it to ourselves and the results have always been disastrous.
Before 2004, Barack Obama was an unknown community organizer in Chicago, Ill. On July 27, 2004, candidate for US Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama, gave the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in Boston, Massachussetts. He did himself a favor with a stellar performance that shot him to national prominence. He received the Democratic party nomination from a field of seasoned politicians with name recognition and the rest is history . Let's not forget that he was the son of a man born and raised in a small Kenyan village. His father grew up herding goats and went to school in a tin-roof shack. Obama's grandfather was a domestic servant, a cook. It's not ddifficult to see that Obama worked himself up from a very disadvantaged position to where he is now, President of the United States of America.
Those from the NPP who're vying for the party's nomination for president must see this as "the" opportunity to do themselves and the nation a favor. Alan, Nana and all the other candidates do not need any favors from us. Instead, they have to prove themselves before our representatives, the delegates, and we will do ourselves the favor of selecting the creme de la creme from among all the candidates in 2016.
