I'm not sure how old you are, Mathias but I'll take a shot in the dark and tell you that you are wise beyond your years(age).
This is going to be one of the best articles of the week, if not the best. I like the maturity of the various advice you dispensed here and there in your piece although, I would have loved it if you had advised The President to fire outright all those 'baby communications spin doctors' of his who seem to latch on to 'a piece of bone and never wanna let go' as if they are hungry dogs. They seem to portray a very bad image of the government when they even know what they are saying is BS and yet they hold on to that like it's the life line for a drowning man. Ghanaians are not fools and like the reference you made to your 12-year old nephew, we all know that things have to change, be it the leadership of the country or the economy.
In a sense, I know why you did not give that advice. Those clowns have made enough fools of themselves already and they don't matter anymore.
Well, I enjoyed reading your piece and I hope the government will take your advice and invite Otabil like you aptly suggested:
"If I was wise enough to make the list of the elite club of the V8 zooming advisors of the president, what I would suggest would be for the president to invite the renowned pastor to the Flagstaff House to discuss the specific recommendations he may have about what the new response should be. If the pastor has any real and practical recommendations, he will share it with the government. If he was just making a populist empty noise, it will also show. If the latter turns out to be the case or he refuses to show up, then the so called unofficial government communicators may have a legitimate basis to take him on."
The first I heard of Mensa-Otabil was when he made the 'Ghanaians are jokesters" comment and I must admit, I took him for one of those 'awam' pastors who have mushroomed all over the country. Then I started following his comments from then on and I started to realize that there was more to this guy than what a first glance can deduce. I wouldn't say that I've come to like him outright but one thing I can say though, is that he's got balls. He speaks his mind and damn the consequences or fallout because he hits the target dead on. A feat which is not very common with a lot of people.
Dr. Bawumia should also pay heed to your advice too.

THE CHURCH HAS BEOME THE NEW WAY TO AMASS WEALTH BY SOME PEOPLE. I HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THOSE WHO USE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS TO ENRICH THEMSELVES.
THEY DONT PREACH TO SAVE SOULD, THEY PRACH FOR MONEY AND WEALTH. IT IS A SHAME ! THEY ARE NOT DIFFERENT FOR ARMED ROBBERS. ARMED ROBBERS ROB THE RICH, THESE PASTORS ROB THOSE IN NEED OF SOLACE AND COMFORT. THEY ROB THE DOWN AND OUT.

Tell me who is a criminal, A pastor who earns his income through voluntary contributions of church members or a bunch of thieves who have been looting from the national coffers resulting in poverty, starvation, malnutrition, premature deaths on a large scale, deseases, poor health care, poor education system turning out educated illiterates, very bad roads resulting in thousands of deaths etc etc? Foolish Afrikabi or whatever you call yourself, you think like a beast. Like a sheep you follow the leader to cross a busy road until you are crushed by a 24-wheeler truck. It is because of people like you that Ghana is fast crumbling. Pastor Otabil, Thank you for your wisdom and bravery and leave the fools to continue until their time is up.

You see Otabil stands out because he subjects every situation into crtical analysis.
He is perhaps amogst the group of persons who I term "HELICOPTER THINKERS"!Those who want to challenge the status quo who can think on their toes and can think outside the box.Mathias you did a brilliant write up kudos But what we would like our like our leaders to understand is we criticise because the impact of their policies has always been disastrous.

I can see why an apostle would like to rise to the defense of of his dear most reverend. I can also not deny Otabil the right to comment on the economy and politics of his dear Ghana. However, the fact remains that himself, very much like the corrupted lot, live off preaching to undo the purse strings of the gullible by promising a "sugar mountain". He then sidelines the commercial organisation built from the commonwealth of his congregation and its elders. This also needs to be said.

My good friend Mathias, you sound like an apostle for Dr Otabil. I think Dr Otabil is a public figure well known in this country so he doesn't need you to pontificate for him. Keep what he means to you and your wife to your self. At least once upon a time his own preachings came to haunt him and he went into verbal vitriol against those who dared to quote him. For me that alone does not make him a true Christ-like. There are many other reasons why at least some of us feeble human beings do not think he is just what others like you think he is. We all are entitled to our opinion so do not blame others for what they think of him just as you also have the right to think what he is. When pastors behave and talk like they have political sympathies on one side, others reserve the right to address them similarly just like Rev Martey is now doing and just like you are also doing. We are all entitled to our sympathies. Nobody attacks or call catholic bishops names though they are known for issuing pastoral letters on governance issues because at least they try to be objective. There are other pastors who also preach but nobody castigates them for their opinion. Just ask why Otabil's preachings are being responded to.
Cheers, my friend.

Yes if Ghanaians are experiencing hardship now it doesn't mean we immediately need a change of president, if anything at all people elected him and any changes must be directed to the people. Is it Ghana alone in the world that have experience such a calamity? no, check history many countries went through same but did not show our type of aggressiveness, our type of behavior is madness, we too quick to judge, what we are doing is even encouraging unpopular taking over which would bring a fatal consequences which the advocators do not even have any idea about. The hardship is partly chopping off the zeros from our currency there by sending the coins to the back background valueless, tell if you devalue the cedi by thinking simply cutting of the zeros what of the coins ? where would they stand? if it were so easy then many countries experiencing economic down trend would have just simply cut their zeros, please lets not overindulge and lead this dear nation to something else we do not like and can not stand for. The other day I heard some people were even encouraging a military style take over, find, you think when that happens it would be cool? never , it would spike a counter , counter , lets be careful, lets allow his time to reach and there would be democratic change, if he winds again well you can not do anything until the cycle comes again. we can not allow few people who are so loud to make noise to look like the entire nation is rumbling.

He did not have to be invited to the Flagstaff House before offering whatever brilliant ideas he had in mind. I, also, cannot buy into your reason for why the Pastor did not offer any concrete alternative remedy in Public. Assuming the Economic fundamentals could not change because the Government did not know any better alternative ideas that would immediately jolt the fundamentals to churn positive outcomes, would that still not be a juncture for the Pastor to submit his probable better ideas?
Senchi provided a good enough grounds for the Pastor's contribution. He just did not take advantage of it. Just as you admonish Dr. Bawumia not to drum up the deathbells of the Economy because he might well inherit a greater mess left behind, I think you could, similarly, have extended that admonishment to the Pastor not to withhold his ideas till invited to the Flagstaff House, because he might not have God's schedule to intervene before things got worse.
