Reading through the commets to your article gives us a clear picture of the madness affecting the NPP as a party. Do you see how they are insuting and attacking you? You call them right wing hardcore supporters when in fact they are hardcorr intolerant supremacist. They cant tolersnt divergent views or any one that isnt in the same league with their ideology and unfortunately Nana Addo has been caught in between this madness led by othrs such as crazy Okoampa.

This intolerant nature is what currently makes the NPP unappealing to those outside of the right wing support core base of the party.

As it stands now NPP can only come to power if two things happen; 1) NDC must continue to perform so weofully where Ghanaians will be so fed and would have no other option than to go in for the only option available the NPP, or 2) Nana Addo must find a way of reaching out to those outside of these ring wing NPP support core base like KU4 did in 2000. Other than this the NPP might loose again.

Politics in Africa(Ghana)is practiced a little different than what pertains in the so called western countries. Please let the process of selecting a flag bearer for the NPP continue and spare us your sanctimonious analysis and God willing we will select the right leader to wrestle power from the unworthy ,and Dangerous NDC.

Phillip, you said it all but there is always EC to blame for his defeat to presidency. The same EC declared him MP elect on 3 occasions, 2 times NPP flag bearer. Incoherent presidential ambition indeed.

First, in the face of overwhelming evidence of corruption infesting his government, Mr Kufuor continued to irritate Ghanaians with the nonsense that “it was their perception.” Even when his own Party Chairman Harona Esseku announced that “all 10%” was being directed to the presidency, he continued to thumb his nose at Ghanaians.

Secondly, when his nephew, Dr Anane messed up big time, instead of firing him to serve as example to other would-be rogues, he kept his post until he was freed by a technicality. Who knows the part he played in that episode?

Thirdly, when he decided to award gold medals to himself and cronies, first he went and minted the medals in the Isle of Wight of all places. If he really had to, why didn’t he give the contract to the Precious Metals Corporation of Ghana, who could have done a better job and create jobs for Ghanaians?

While he was at it, he awarded one of those medals to “Candidate Atta Mills” and left out his own party’s candidate Nana Addo, who at that point (and till today) had fought oppression in Ghana longer than any Ghanaian since independence. What exactly was Mr Kufuor trying to tell Ghanaians? Here was Wofa Atta whose only possible contribution to Ghana had been as a lecturer producing some of the bogus judges we have in the country today, and as hockey player!

Fourthly, tv watchers around the world now believe that we have one of the worst judiciary systems in the world, for that rotten judgement at the 2012 Election petition.

Finally, what you missed was that fact that Richard Nixon had his name on US presidential ballots, either as Vice President or President from 1948 until he finally won it in 1972 and messed it all up. I also would have wished that Nana would kiss politics goodbye after the rogue Afari-Djan’s “contortions” at the election petition hearing. However, the NPP is a democratic organisation, who am I or anybody else for that matter, to say that Nana Addo cannot stand for any position any number of time if he so wishes?

My own sadness is about the NPP’s current lackadaisical attitude towards Ghana’s grossly over-bloated electoral register. With the exception of Cuba and North Korea, there is no country anywhere in the world that registers more than 46% of its eligible voters, not even Nigeria. Ghana does an incredible 56%+!

Yes, unless the NPP fights for a credible voters’ register and a level electoral playing field, it would not matter who their candidate is in 2016. Besides, with the possible exception of Joe Ghartey, none of the people who presented themselves at the congress is any credible presidential material. Except, of course, that every society gets the leaders it deserves. That is why Ghana has John Mahama!

Besides, if you had read carefully I did use the word comparatively.
And on your Nixon twist, I did provide parameter. In addition, did not claim that it was his birthright. And a bit of correction, he was first elected president in 1968 and again in 1972.
