Who should lead us to fight Diseases and filth at the individual level? I don't see your point. The system must work, I agree but on the ground, individual responsibility need to be led. And the president is right to lead

Yes, if he can't get people to clean the gutters he has to do it himself. He was elected to see to the welfare of the country. Normally, we would expect him to provide effective leadership so as to get people working. If he has failed in that respect, his only option is to do it by himself.

The filth is just the tip of the iceberg reflecting the current state of decay. Nothing in the country works. The brain of the president has been in a workshop being repaired by people who haven't seen anything like that before. The man is hopeless, clueless and useless.
His job is to bring in the strategic planning required to get the whole country working. That will not happen if he buries himself in the gutter.
Visiting the AMA office to try and understand the challenges facing them and listening to suggestions from them will have been a more useful way of spending the day.

The President has enough work to keep him busy at his desk 24/7, 365 days a year so which of his enormous amount of duties did he have to skip to find time to clean gutters in James Town? We are joking as a nation.
In my opinion President Mahama is the epitome of the do little/nothing Presidents of our time.
The President is one person. He cannot and and should not do anyone's job in addition to his job.
What happened at James Town was a publicity stunt, an orgy of failed leadership at the apogee of political power. Good leaders delegate and don't need to jump into the gutter to do someone else's job. If that happens then that person does not deserve to have the job. Each one of us is aware of the insanitary conditions of Accra and the health hazards this may pose to a city ill- prepared for any health epidemic.
Why is the city mayor still at post when the President had to leave his busy work schedule to descend into the gutters to perform his job?
The irony is that while there too many public workers flunking on their job expectations and failing to account for the huge investment in them from the public purse there's also an excellent and big pool of accomplished professionals and well-educated Ghanaians all over the world who are ignored for no good reasons. It's a plan to fail if the President ignores our best human resources to hire mediocrities.
The 2016 presidential elections are approaching and they are looking for ways to hood-wink voters into voting for them again.

Clearly he is unable to do this and now resorting to these half-baked, self serving, haph-hazardand and poor infantile methods to garner public sympathy. Shame!

Rawlings did that not once not twice.it is a mark of good leadership.if Rawlings cleaned Nima and today Nima is still filthy, it only exposes the real poor attitude of the ghanaian to keeping his environment clean. we are yet to see such examplary conduct from those who see them selves as divine rulers cast in the mould of our colonial masters as they dress like them, eats like them walk like them, prides like them and therefore will not condenscend low to gutter cleaning level. the president has not only shown the way by doing it himself but has by conduct demonstrated that he is a true descendant of a regime that that identifies itself with the ordinary people of ghana who indeed are the king makers.

It is nice for an elected official to attempt to lead by example even if it exposes the incompetence of government.
The president, in my opinion, should not engage in tasks that his administration pays some person or group of persons to undertake at a department of state. But then again this brings to the fore a series of failures brought on by the 1966 coup. Anyone old enough to know and remember can reminisce about a time when Ghana's PWD cleaned our streets and gutters with pride. It was a time when government-owned housing estates had clean gutters and passable roads. Yes it was not a time of milk and honey but then there is no nation on earth where the streets are paved in gold and overflowing with milk and honey. We did let our desires for freedom to pillage, steal and the exercise of tribal preferences guide us to an elusive freedoms prescribed by the tenants of democracy to overthrow the government.
Oh how wonderful it is to enjoy an elusive freedom and or liberties even as we wallow in filth, corruption, nepotism and tribal animus of the dangerous kind.
