  2. You agree with my thrust that the investments in science education have not yielded the requisite dividends. You merely supply a disingenuous set of excuses which Ghana cannot resolve were the country to exist for two thousand years. The biggest room in the world is the room for excuses, and so are the rooms for invention, creativity and self-improvement. Yet you set up an abstract and unachievable standard for a country that continues to pour millions in the training of scientists who are content to say we are hungry and can therefore do nothing.
  3. In any case, one chief thrust of my essays is the inability of our so-called scientists to lead in analytical thinking. A nation that has sunk so much in the education of scientists has only produced a bunch of nincompoops who have encased their brains in religious superstition and logical hiatus. Is it too much to ask that they lead the nation in scientific/ analytical thinking even if they now find themselves redundant.
  4. I will have to write a riposte to your kind of peroration as a sequel to my articles. This space is too small for the answers I will like to give.

  DR SAS,living in United States and criticising Ghanaian scientists is rather laughable.If you were a Science student in secondary school,then you are also capable of inventing or making discoveries.After all you don't need university degrees in order to invent or discover any thing.I would really be appreciative if you could abandon your comfortable lifestyle in Texas and go back to Ghana,join those Ghanaian scientists who are struggling to put food on their table,and come out with some inventions or discoveries.

  The problems we face are not the result of any group of academicians or professionals having low IQs but we are all part of the problem. Either we are not motivated at all or we are ill-motivated.
  In Nkrumah's time he chose the socialist system of government, declared himself life president with the help of a partisan parliamentary majority and from that time the administration practised the policy of exclusivism. Politically, we were a deeply divided people and it was made worse by the rule of fear and intimidation.
  Nkrumah was overthrown but our problems were unchanged. Somewhere along the way Rawlings emerged.The vast majority of ghanaians believed he was a breath of fresh air and thought he was their great deliverer . He just turned out to be not just another empty talker but also another exclusivist who widened the tribal, political and class divide. He further demotivated ghanaians with his kleptocratic rule. From the Rawlings era, Ghana took the turn for the worse and has not looked back. Suddenly, the people who had gotten so dis-enthused about politics suddenly fell in love with it because the impoverishment opened their eyes and found out how it had transformed the lives of Rawlings, Ahwoi brothers, Totobi Quakyi, etc from rags to riches. They discovered that politics is the real state gold mine, the fast-track to wealth. Most people fell in love with instant gratification. Just get some education and join politics and your future is secured for ever. Who is going to spend sleepless nights thinking about inventions and innovations that will not put food on the table when there was money to be madewithout any sweat?
  The problem we have comes from poor leadership. There's nothing wrong with scientists, engineers, doctors, architects, agriculturists, chemists, artists, etc. They don't have low IQ. Their motivation and enthusiasm are being held hostage by the poor leaders we vote for as our leaders.
  Change the leadership and if they bring in fresh ideas and treat every ghanaian with fairness and equity Ghana will start rising again.
