The fanatical Akuffo Addo supporters had better listen to this man's wise words as Ghanaians have no desire for an Ivorian type conflagration. As stated repeatedly by many commentators Nana Akuffo Addo's brand is now defined by VIOLENCE AND INTOLERANCE OF ALL DISSENTING VOICES AND OPINIONS. Clearly that is now Nana's definition of democracy. Nana Akuffo Addo therefore presents no credible threat to a clearly underperforming NDC as he has repeatedly and convincingly failed to demonstrate any MASS APPEAL to the wider Ghanaian population OUTSIDE OF THE NPP

With Alan as prez and Bawumiah the governor of BOG, Ghana would able to pick up the pieces of Zongo shit John Mahama has littered all over the place and make things all better. Alan has some enviable qualities Nana hasn't got. Alan is international while Mahama and Nana are both local. Alan was the manager of former UAC at the age of 20. He is a former of all African businesses. Africa nominated him to contest for the post of the WTO which he narrowly lost. In 1994, Mr. Kyerematen was listed by the TIME Magazine as one of the Hundred (100) Global Leaders for the New Millennium, alongside Bill Gates . Again he was so successful as a Trade and Industries minister. His outfit helped boost cassava production/starch for export. As we speak now world class company reputed in the manufacture of NESTLÉ products import starch from a starch company in Ghana which Alan help established. You see the is the man the people are been bribed to reject.

A truth sympathiser of NPP will never write series of unpalatable articles against the party he genuinely love especially when that party is in opposition. Of all the articles I have read from this writer he seems to have strong leanings on NDC but pretend to love NPP. I will rather urge members of NPP to be extra careful when dealing with this writer.

Kobina,
This is spot on! While the NPP is quibbling, the NDC is sharpening its electoral tools, including ways and means of dumping votes in various parts of the country.
There are real issues that are currently crushing the average Ghanaian home. Instead of harping those issues, the NPP communication people are silent, while those who have found their voices spew garbage about "flagbearer aspirants."
Yes Mahma will soon find the money for community schools (most of which will continue to churn out illiterate robots), pads for girls, school feeding and cocoa spraying. Much of that money will be stolen into the NDC war chest. Then in early 2017, the hapless Ghanaian taxpayer will be faced with empty national coffers and the vicious cycle will begin all over again!
Very simple but smart election-winning tactic: Keep the rural areas where the majority of the people live poor and ignorant, dangle before them useless programmes near election time, for their votes! And the NPP cannot see through this bogus ploy.

A very insightful Article but it may have come too late, now. What you stated largely reflects the opinions of many of us who hoped with the right candidate, and solid unity extracted out of adherence to Party Constitutional requirements NPP could be a better replacement for the current Administration, given the myriad of scandals emerging ever so often within the Government.
However, right from the very end of the SC Petition, Akufo-Addo supporters set their hearts in stone to disallow the well-intended democratic competition that would do just that. They presented the man as if he had been divinely ordained to be the President of Ghana, and sadly took to vicious attacks on anyone who dared to suggest the process of choosing the Flagbearer had to proceed as the Party's Constitution required, and with the necessary level of decorum in direct and indirect debates of the candidates' merits.
In their pre-emptive efforts to discourage Akufo-Addo's possible challengers to the Flagbearership, they resorted to intimidation with vitriolic personal attacks on the other candidates and their supporters. This is way off the tactical benign persuasion of all possible opponents to concede to an unopposed candidacy of Akufo-Addo's, which could have kept the Party solidly united behind him.
While many of us who oppose Akufo-Addo cited certain errors or inadequacies noticed with his bid in the previous Election as contributive to his loss, his supporters should have seriously considered those factors and chosen to discuss how best the Party could tame them with him at the helm. Instead, those factors were demeaningly rejected, and those of us who dared mentioned them castigated and pulled through the mud.
That intolerant reaction from the Akufo-Addo camp in those early days of this election cycle set the stage for the current retributive escalation of hostilities between Akufo-Addo's camp and others, especially, Alan's, because the latter happens to be the most viable opponent of Nana's.
What should have been a healthy debate of ideas on issues relevant to NPP's success soon turned into a trade of personal assaults on character of all who matter in both camps, and their sympathizers outside.
Having bypassed the very factors that needed close attention to ensure victory for the NPP, it is becoming increasingly difficult for any well-meaning NPP sympathizer, beyond the circle of the Akufo-Addo die-hard supporters, to believe in his leadership.
And just so you know, you are not the only one that has been tagged 'NDC mole' or 'closeted NDC' or something on those lines for strongly suggesting the mere adherence to NPP
Constitution to allow the other candidates also contest for the Flagbearership. I was whacked by 'Justice' Sarpong who doubles on here as Cardinal Justice, or etc., as "closeted NDC" for showing my lean towards Alan and wishing the candidates all stayed in the race.
I bet you would again receive a massive dump of personal insults from mostly Akufo-Addo's camp which seems to care less about any poignant facts or issues raised in this Article.
For me, it is the level of hatred that these folks have brought to the table that worries me most because that is what could cause a real threat to the NPP's performance in the General Elections. Many are not really thinking clearly about how to win the ultimate goal, as their minds are thickly shrouded in tar they intend to pour on any who oppose Nana at the Primaries.
The Party would be using much of its resources trying to settle the ensuing deepening mess within and have little to appeal to the voters at large for their support.
The obsession with Nana has bred obstinacy, over-confidence in him and instantaneous vicious aggression from his supporters that could all culminate in irreparable fracturing of NPP. That is most unfortunate. They might have forgotten that Votes are won with calm, friendly but firm persuasion. Not with brawn and brutal assaults, or coercion.
Long Live Ghana!!!

It doesn't matter whether it is Akufo-Addo, Kyerematen or Mahama who rules us. Our problems with our selfish politicians will continue.
Any true Ghanaian patriot will not be rooting for any of these guys. Instead, he/she shall be relentlessly challenging them and pointing out the faults in ALL OF THEM!

Philip, if I may rephrase for him, such right thinking only has a future in the NDC and not the NPP. I like your article but wish you belonged to another party other than the NPP. I'm actually an anti-NPP and so any other party goes. The posturing of the party is nauseating. Allan is cool but NPP is hell.
I know Mahama genuinely wants this country to move forward and he has had to make some tough decisions that do not necessarily yield positive outcomes in the short-term. I agree that as a human being, he is infallible as Philip claimed for himself, but it does not necessarily make him a bad president. Mahama was not compelled to set up investigations into any of the corrupt allegations that were in the media including the setting up of the Brazil world cup commission which is revealing our very nature. He did that because the more people get exposed, the more it may deter others from towing that line.
Somebody said that Nana may not be corrupt as his followers would want us believe, but remember the ousted NPP administration had corruption allegations all over it and they are all behind Nana. These are the very people Nana will appoint to positions in the unlikely event that he becomes president. Mahama cannot be everywhere and he has to trust people to work for him and you cannot also be firing people left and right; you will eventually not have anybody to run your government. The country's problem is in our attitude and so when the christian council comes out to blame government without stepping up their role to instil moral discipline in their congregation, then it tells me there is no light at the end of the tunnel. The current posturing of the Nana supporters despite all the good suggestions from the likes of Philip goes a long way to confirm the attitude issues. Just check the first comment on the article and it tells you the kind of people that any president of this country will have to deal with. We need a moral revolution but I don't know how we can achieve that when the christian council is pointing fingers elsewhere.
I personally don't think the article had any content issues as somebody else remarked but would encourage you to move away from writing on politics to discussing issues that affect us as a people. Goodluck and thanks for your effort.
