It should take a sober head to analyze the implications of the conduct of Laureta Lamptey.One would assume that she was operating under her terms and conditions of service otherwise the board of governors of the establishment she works for will intervene.
In the absence of that the logical conclusion will be that she has done nothing untoward for such intervention.I believe the authorities know about what she was doing and gave her their blessing so the fault is not with her nature neither is it in her stars but the system.
If under her condition of service of employment she is entitled to a descent accommodation but the available accommodation is unsuitable then she deserves to be housed temporary until her official accommodation is ready and that was exactly what happened.
The hullabaloo going on about her accommodation is uncalled for.Perhaps it is part of a political witch hunting which is now targeted at all appointments by President Mahama.If officialdom had not questioned what she did then I would think that she is complying with the term of her employment.So it is the terms that must come under attack not her.
Kofi is becoming a loose canon these days because he wades into things before he had time to think.Her background did not get her her job but her qualification and experience.
As for Mr Short he said the house was fairly okay but habitable though it needs some attention so what is wrong with giving the house that attention.The budget is from the state and they determine how much it will take to bring it up to standard so it can't be her fault.The alternative accommodation as well was arranged by the government so whats her fault if not political witch hunting and an unreasonable jumping to conclusions without the facts.

What you ought to do is to wait for the auditors General report to be submitted to parliament so that all those unknown figures being bandied about will be confirmed or rubbished by the auditor's General report. You attempted to put up a defence for Lauretta Lamptey but you failed miserably. Reliable sources in Ghana indicates that the monthly housing allowance for an Appeal Court Judge, which is what the CHRAJ Commissioner should get is under $500.00 when she spent $4,500. The fact that the appointing authority should provide accommodation for her does not mean at any cost, particularly, looking at the current financial situation in Ghana. Again, this is the person who heads the institution that is required to check and stop corruption, abuse of office/power and misappropriation of public funds by public officials. If she is involved in corruption (not working for months but collecting her pay) abusing her office/power by using public funds to pay very expensive rent and last but not the least, misappropriating public funds by her extravagance, what do you call these? Is that what you described me as a loose canon?
I do not blame her but the late President Mills who appointed her when she is not qualified for the role. Form her CV, it was clear that she did not qualify to be appointed an Appeal Court Judge.
“A person shall not be qualified for appointment as a Commissioner or a Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights and Administrative Justice, unless s/he is - in the case of Commissioner, qualified for appointment as a Justice of the Court of Appeal;…The Commissioner and deputy Commissioners shall enjoy the terms and conditions of service of a Justice of the Court of Appeal and High Court respectively.”

If for some reason you have your own accommodation and decides to live there then the housing allowance for that will be five hundred dollars which no judge has taken advantage of because it is more comfortable in government accommodations with its regular servicing.
And finally Ms Lamptey had been a lawyer for more than ten years with good standing so why is she not qualified if that is the only criteria or is it bashing for the sake of it.Lets see your take on her suitability for that role in your next article.I must add though that both on paper and experience she is more than qualified for that role.
You are completely out of order trying to crucify this woman for no offence other than complying with her terms and condition of service which you may not like but that is no excuse to malign her.

At the same time in the U.S.,the world's richest country,then Senator Obama was renting an efficiency in Washington,DC,which he paid out of his own pocket(When his family visited him from Chicago,he took them to a hotel). Also,Vice President Joe Biden never owned a house in Washington,and had to commute daily for more than 20years - from his state of Delaware.
But don't tell this to the corrupt and thieving politicians in Ghana.For almost all of them,their main goal of running for office,is to ENRICH THEMSELVES,THEIR CRONIES AND FAMILIES.
And docile Ghanaians(brainwashed by false prophets and charlatans), continue to say:"FAMA NYAME",and vote again and again these con men/women into power. As Kufuor said,corruption has been with us since the beginning of time - which Ms.Lamptey would probably agree.
