We as a nation should stick to developing the skills sets of the Ghanaian. That is the only way we can expect to wean ourselves of foreign coaches permanently... GFA should look to the long term, instead of focusing only on Morocco 2015. We should stay away from the search for instant gratification.

Nice write up as usual, Papa Appiah. Whatever you write on these pages is always well thought out and well written even if one doesn't always agree with you. Thanks for that.

You have not indicated in this piece if Chris Houghton has applied for the Ghanaian job or is even interested. That is very important to know. If he has applied, then he should stand a good chance.

One thing you have failed to mention is that our many Ghanaian professional footballers who have plied their trade in the European league have not become great coaches to choose from. There is Desailly but he cannot really be counted as one of those Ghanaian players who made it big abroad because he never played football in Ghana and was not natured in the Ghanaian footballing culture - all his present efforts to help the sport in his country of birth notwithstanding. Moreover, he doesn't seem to have coaching experience at a high level. Thank goodness you never mentioned him.

In the same way, Chris Houghton is also a Ghanaian only in name, not in any footballing experience (Ghana football, I mean). That means he is just like any other foreign coach and his nominal Ghanaianness should not put him above all the other foreign coaches.

You don't need to be any smart to conclude that this writer has something against AA, right from the beginning of this useless piece. The root cause of the Black Stars' 'unimpressive' performance was GFA's making, and it showed in events leading to the game against Poland. Despite the results against the USA and Germany, the boys showed us something.... Has anyone praised AA for that?
Does the writer expect us to fall for his pitch for someone he thinks is good? Who the hell is he (the writer)?
Taking pride in our own is the way to go, and I think AA should have been kept on the job.. Or another local coach will do. Can the writer name how many countries have won the World Cup with foreign coach?
On the economic side a local coach will at least keep, invest or spend at least part of this 'huge' salary in Ghana... What you you think the foreign coaches do?
