OFFICE OF THE ODIKRO
a companion of the black star!
Hi Kwame,
Here is a message from your maternal great grand uncle!
We are not in the least surprised you are running of with your long tail carefully and firmly tugged in between your hind legs!
We know what is in this book of yours as nothing but a failed attempt to whitewash a dastardly act by J.B. Danquah!
Okoampa writes, "About the only fault Danquah made over the Akyea-Mensah cause celebre, was his insistence on personally defending his nephews as a lawyer. But this was only to be expected..."
Indeed! And why do you think an incompetent lawyer thought he was doing his own relatives a favour by insisting on personally defending them until they were "sentenced to death by hanging on the neck"?
Danquah lost even the admiration of the British who saw his involvement in the ritual murder of Nana Akyea Mensah as unacceptable!
"In Governor Burns' constitutional reform in the late 1930s, Danquah pressed for the creation of an Office of Minister of Home Affairs for himself. But his prospect was jeopardized by his involvement in the barbaric murder of Odikro Akyea Mensah of Apedwa (one of the Amantoo-mmiensa towns) in February 1944. Odikro Akyea Mensah was one of the (over 80) children of Ofori Atta I, and had served as his personal clerk and tribunal Registrar." See: The Fallacies of J. B. Danquah?s Heroic Legacy | Feature Article 2006-06-04 /www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/features/artikel.php?ID=105319.
It is not only the British who would be horrified by this. Most Akyems were horrified. Most people of the Gold Coast who heard about this case were equally horrified.
What saved Danquah from popular opprobrium has been attributed to a shortage of newsprint in the Gold coast from 1944 to 1946 when the case was in the news. Thus few people know about this.
I shall therefore give a background to this case here.
In the 1990s, a very smart CID officer retired, Police Assistant Commissioner, H.A Nuamah, published a book in which he elaborately provided details and facts concerning the ritual murder of Nana Akyea Mensah, the Odikro of Apedwa, complete with pictures: "THE KIBI MURDER CASE." The book was to later serve as the raw material for playwright, Gloria Yartey, with over 100 scripts to her credit to come out with her latest sensation, true life story, entitled: WHERE IS THE CHIEF?
"According to ACP/Mr Nuamah, the climax of the week-long funeral of the late Okyehene Nana Sir Ofori Atta I was set for Sunday, 27th February, 1944. The last rite marking the end of the funeral was the celebration of the WEREMPE custom, which was the act of blackening the stool of the late chief, formally making him an ancestor in the line of kings.
In the past, this rite was, nationwide, performed with slaughtering a human being and using his blood to "purify" the stool.
In the evening of Saturday, 26th February, 1944 all the principal players in the stool blackening ritual assembled for final preparations.
The question was which human being’s blood was to be used for the ceremony. Present was Nana Akyea Mensah, Chief of Apedwa, and traditionally commander of the Okyehene’s royal bodyguard.
Nana Mensah quite clearly explained to his colleagues that times had changed. The colonial authorities at the Christianborg Castle in Osu had taken over the power of life and death from the chiefs. It was no longer possible for the chiefs to sit anywhere and condemn anybody – if they used any human blood in the ritual, the Gold Coast Police would arrest them.
However, hard-liners at the meeting opposed Nana Mensah, and, after the meeting, they planned that when Nana came in the morning for the rites, meaning to use the blood of goats and sheep, they would kill him and use his blood – after all he was top royal blood, and the only mole in their midst." - (Where Is The Chief?' Drama Preview: 'Where Is The Chief?' Source: Times Posted on: 20-Apr-2008)
Danquah was clearly old enough to know the purpose of the gathering of the key players on that fateful Saturday evening of 26th February, 1944. What did he say about this by way of condemnation, apart from giving moral and legal support for the murderers? Can you tell me that? David Cannadine was not an Akyem royal, but even he knew about this!
"The objective of blackening the stool is to create a halo of puissance, invoke fear, obeisance and loyalty in a largely superstitious population. The ritual of the blackening of the stool traditionally involved the blood of a human being. It is believed that this literally gives "tumi" (power) to the stool. To get this power you would need to sacrifice a royal blood. You do not just take any man from any where to make the stool "black". It must be a fellow lineage member. You use the executioner's knife to pierce the neck and the blood come out and is poured unto the stool. Then you cut off the head and place it on top of the stool. You then remove the heart, the penis, and the testicles and place them on the stool. You then use gun powder and the spider's web to mix with the blood and smear the entire stool with it. The head is later taken and buried after eight days, then follows the heart on the fortieth day, the testicles and the penis are kept on the stool as symbols of its potency." (See: Rituals of Royalty: Power and Ceremonial in Traditional Societies, by David Cannadine, Simon Price.)
There is no doubt in my mind that judging from his incessant calls for bloodshed, such as we found in his series, "The Rod To Kigali", had Okoampa been around at the time, he would not only have gleefully participated in the murder, but he would have worked assiduously as he is doing today, to cover it up!
I was once informed by someone whose father took part in "black voting" Danquah:
"When I posed the same question to my dad when I was sixteen years old. J.B. Danquah was the famous and popular son of the Akyems, why won't the Akyems elect him once for a national office. J.B. Danquah was black voted when he tried to be admitted to the Freemason fraternity Lodge (The Gold Coast Lodge #773 English Constitution my father's mother lodge) the premier of all masonic temples in Ghana. J.B.Danquah did not FIT to be a master mason. He lacked integrity, my dad told me."
He explained "black vote" as :
"Before a candidate is accepted in the masonic brotherhood, there is a process that one has to go through when a name is submitted. The name is vetted one way or the other like the conclave electing a papal head (The Pope). The vote should be collective in white paper or handkerchief - one single black paper or handkerchief means, one does not have a good standing to belong to that august society. J.B. Danquah had many multiple black votes during that vetting process. You are talking about Judges, Barristers, senior civil servants and military officers."
That should have been a clear signal to Danquah that he had no political future in the country, since his own elitist base rejected had him after the murder of Nana Akyea Mensah, and the "verandah boys" were in no hurry to abandon Kwame Nkrumah and follow such an arrogant, greedy, and vicious aristocrat!
Sincerely,
Pur'gu Saarpe!!! Esq.,

Those of us who know the unalloyed truth of the exact lineaments and contours of Ghana's liberation struggle, shall continue to counter Ms. Nkrumah's impenitent and unconscionable mendacities with the incontrovertible truth. The fact of the matter is that by December 1947, when a cash-strapped and London-stranded Kwame Nkrumah was invited by the leaders of the seminal United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) to assume the paid general-secretaryship of the UGCC, Ghana's independence struggle from British colonial domination was in full-blast (See Dennis Austin's Politics in Ghana: 1946-1960)

The world watched in horror during the Liberian and Sierra Leone's civil war with images of people eating fresh human hearts and drinking human blood. What were the influences of that behaviour? Nana Kwame Kyeretwie JB Danquah twafohene of Akyem Tafo, Nana Chris Acher chief of Akyem Osenase and Nana Frimpong of Akyem Kyia were all implicated in ritual murders, and as a matter of fact, Chris Acher and Nana Frimpong were sentenced to death. The elites amongst the former slaves from the USA and UK in Liberia and Sierra Leone introduced Freemasonry in West Africa, infected their respective societies with superstitious beliefs and human sacrifices. JB Danquah, Chris Acher and Nana Frimpong were all freemason ritualists and UP die hards. Human blood was very essential to these vampires because they believed the blood of perceived powerful enemies, make them powerful as well. JB Danquah was a known ritualist, that was part of the reasons why he lost all his attempts to become an MP!!!! I will tell you guys why Nana Akyea became one of JB'S victims, why Chris Acher killed Mr. Ofori among many victims and why Nana Frimpong's nephew became one of his victims in my next post!!!

Though I do not endorse nor support any part of the teachings of that elitist and secretive cult THE FREEMASONS, I want to make it clear that not all MASONS belong to the extreme fringe of the organization. I know for a fact that Nana Akyea Mensah himself as well as Ofori Attah II were members of the FREEMASONS. Nana Ofori Attah II was deeply saddened when he was told by some members of the royal family what they had done. He saw Nana Akyea Mensah alive but with "sepo" in his mouth, ready to be slaughtered and like Pontius Pilate, he reluctantly gave his approval for the slaughter and dismemberment Nana Akyea Mensah to begin. From then on, Nana Ofori II never trusted JB again. Some in the Apedwa Ahenfie believed it was Nana Ofori Attah II, who could not live with his conscience after the heinous crime, started leaking bits and pieces of the info that led to the arrests of the Vampires. JB Danquah orchestrated the entire agenda to eliminate Nana Akyea Mensah from the Akyem Abuakwa royal ruling class. JB Danquah had no blood relation to the Kyebi stool and was no blood brothers of the Ofori Attah family either!!!

Kwame, if Mr. JB Danquah was the architect of modern Ghana, what changed that he sold his conscience for a dime and became CIA agent working against the very Country you claimed he helped in founding? JB Danquah could not even lead the Akyems let alone enter parliament yet, this lunatic thinks otherwise.
For all Okoampah's hallucination about JB Danquah's achievements, every Ghanaian including those in psychiatry hospitals know for a fact that JB Danquah was either murdering his own relative or receiving stipends from the CIA for selling his own Country. There was an ugly son of a king so ugly that you take your eyes from him as soon as you see his face. Besides being ugly he was also wicked and never does anything human. He lost all what make people beings. He was also arrogant that he did not want to learn anything. The king was in pain that his son was ugly and good for nothing. The king then decreed that anything done by any human being should be credited to his ugly son.
Thus members of the NPP want to create an ugly prince out of J.B. Danquah, O. Lamptey, Akuffo Addo and other members of the UP who hid away from Ghana's independence celebrations on 6/3/1957. It is a fact that a person who want to acknowledge the birth of a child would be present at the naming ceremony of the child. UP members hid away from Ghana's independence and even some of them were in London to tell the queen that we are not ripe for independence because to them the British experiment with us was not over.
Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe so to you a child is supposed to be named after a person who gave some poison to the pregnant woman to abort the fetus. We do not hear Prez. Obama screaming aloud for any perceived erroneous sourcing of his utterances.
Samia may well be in error to assume Obama borrowed his popular mantra from Nkrumah. And if he did really borrow it, it would not, necessarily, amount to plagiarism. Therefore by Samia's claim, legitimate or not, Obama is not accused of anything. You are the one who is trying so hard to seek for a non-existent crime to insert yourself in its discovery as some vital informant. Why have you become an instigator of trouble between American Institutions and Ghanaians?
The last time I checked you were claiming to know better than the FBI, telling them how they ought to handle an identity fraud case to implicate Dr. Arthur Kennedy, long after the case had been settled and the culprit jailed. Now, what do you wish Obama to do to Samia? Call her up and charge her with defamation of Character? You are so unpatriotic and a devilish tattletale. What do you think the USA would give you in return for being that much of a fink to your own native Citizens?
The emergence of popular slogans and their public usage do not always confer Plagiarism on their usage by others without prior permission.
If that was the case, I bet, many of the terms you use in your writings could be cited as Plagiarism, as someone might have long used them ahead of you.
Why don't you fault Akufo-Addo for Plagiarism for his usage of the term "All die be die"? He was not the first to use that phrase. Was he? And he did not duly credit anyone for his usage. Did he?
In the same fashion, the term "African Personality" may well have no recorded copyright protection for its usage, and the person you referred to as having earlier used it before Nkrumah obviously did not claim it to have been plagiarized by Nkrumah. What Legal right have you to claim that breach for that person? Surely, every good Citizen of the World must report crimes to the appropriate Authorities. But there is no crime established here. You have shown to be full of malice for all who you disagree with politically. That is not really mature at all, and it does not help build a Nation.
Your obsessive hatred for Nkrumah really seems to be clouding your sense of judgment. By now, you should have learnt that no amount of your bludgeoning of the late President's image makes a dent in his fame. In your typical "'Pull-Him-Down' to enhance my image" mode, you, again, miserably failed to dull Nkrumah's image with this devious attempt at defaming him, while simultaneously cack-handedly injecting into the argument hyperbolic adulation of Danquah.
You are sadly hurting your own image as well, Prof., but your airs of infallibility may be in the way to conceding your vulnerability. I have read elsewhere how you so arrogantly claim not to be in anyway sensitive to how folks perceive you. But that is no less mendacious a claim than you impute to Samia, given how prominently you append your Academic credentials to almost all your submissions to the Media. Your constant efforts to claim relations to many prominent Ghanaians, dead and alive, attests to your thirst for fame. At least, you surely love the attention your writings draw to you. So, you cannot claim any immunity to assaults on your reputation.
Meanwhile, you don't seem to be helping Danquah's image much, either, by always laying his attributes alongside Nkrumah's. Why not let Danquah's stand on its own? Your problem in this futile exercise to exhalt Danquah's image over Nkrumah's is that more recorded information exist to practically prove Nkrumah's prowess and achievement, globally, than there could ever be Danquah's. And so long as contemporaneous witnesses live and widely share their account of Nkrumah's feats as you incongrously employ Danquah's to usurp the late President's image, you cannot win. So, why keep making a dunce of yourself, relentlessly denigrating Nkrumah, and jeopardizing your Professorial integrity in the process?
Many, like I, would welcome any new, and possibly, previously buried information about Danquah that enhances his relevance to our Nation's History, so long as it is provable and not used to undermine the reputation of others.
If that dubious tactic of yours to project Danquah's image were any successful, the Danquah Institute would not have gotten rid of you. Gabby and the others still at the helm of that Institute might have noticed how much a liability you were to the Institute. Does that not impinge upon your conscience a bit to make you abandon your ignoble methods?
Give us authentic reasons to love Danquah more without just bastardizing his peers.
Nkrumah never deliberately snubbed Mandela. Nkrumah favored the approach of fellow Azanians to rid themselves of Apartheid over Mandela's method. But that was not why he did not meet Mandela on his visit to Ghana. Given how difficult it was for Black Freedom Fighters to communicate to the outside World, Mandela could not inform Nkrumah's regime of his intended visit on time. Nkrumah had other external assignments scheduled. So, it was easily misconstrued that he purposely snubbed Mandela. Meanwhile, Nkrumah wanted to persuade Mandela to join forces with the other ANC leaders to present a unified front in their struggle. How would he not have taken the opportunity to meet with Mandela? You can spin such a common miscommunication all you want to tarnish Nkrumah's image. Yet, Mandela himself never rejected Nkrumah the way you have done. What a shame!!
I would not like to see any Ghanaian throw so much dirt on Danquah, either. Even though records abound to justify the concerns of many Ghanaians that the Americans were financially supporting his Danquah's family while he was in Nsawam, I would rather have folks put that situation in its proper context and not just hurriedly conclude, as some have, that Danquah was a CIA mole in the process of overthrowing Nkrumah.
I do have copies of the de-classified CIA notes on Nkrumah that clearly showed Danquah's family received monetary payments from the USA at the period indicated above. Instead of working hard to explain this difficult circumstance to the Public tfor it to empathetically understand why that assistance might have been necessary, you keep wasting our time with constant 'pen-fishing' for dirt on Nkrumah.
