But Today, we have a true native and lover of Kumasi bringing the same topic up again and not just that but showing his disappointment as well.

If Kumasi is the dirtiest, it is because the people living there too are dirty. They have sold the Garden City for money, with every individual opening up shanty-like shops sometimes with props scattered all over. And they call it business.....hahahahahaha

Kumasi is just like Accra without the stench and overcrowded as the guy said because folks from your smelly villages in Trokosi region can't have enough of the city.

Kumasi compared to other cities in Ghana is far better than any in Ghana.

There is no city or town in Ghana that don't need better planning and massive cleaning and Kumasi is not exception. I am surprised the guy only singled out Northerners without talking about the Trokosi boys walking from Anloga (Awonaga) to Kejetia carrying woodworks taller and twice as heavy than those little boys carrying them, a real child abuse by their Trokosi parents.

Kola, if you can tell your folks to stay at (wHOre) and (wHOrewHOre) instead of running to Kumasi to do carpentry, bedsheet washing, watchman's job and truck pushing, maybe Kumasi can become less overcrowded.

Worry about your Ho village where your folks have turned Ho stadium into a big toilet facility and defecating in broad daylight.

If you look abroad, their are plenty asantes who can clean up kumasi, and help bring back its glory. But, the question is why arn't those asantes coming back home to contribute to Kumasi.

It is the Asantes in USA, Europe and other places who have been building mansions and small businesses that have caused the massive migration of people from other regions, not only Northerners to Kumasi to cause the overcrowd ...

My town Buoho which is about seven miles from Kejetia used not to be part of Kumasi but it is now. Now even Kodie a mile or two from Kumasi is part of Kumasi likewise Ahwiaa on Kumasi Mampong road, Abuakwa on Kumasi Sunyani road that all used to be seperate towns have all become part of Kumasi, due to massive migration of people from other regions.

A plot of land at Buoho that you could have purchased for maybe $1000 ten years ago is now selling for about $6500 due to demand and that is even if you can find one. Very soon Offinso about seventeen miles away from Kumasi will be a suburb of the sprawling city.

The funny thing is some of them are complaining about the rapid change of kumasi and how they miss the old days..it hurt, Exclusive areas are now turning into ghettos..back in the day the areas where the northerners could not step foot is now been taking over, even u don't walk far from manhyia to locate a zongo..vibrant places like batama, krofrom, ash town are no more less than a ghetto now..the only place now left for us is the Adum towards ahodjo areas and needs to be protected immediately to avoid an influx..it really hurt to see my beloved city going down..I won't trade anything for it though..

First off, let me say that the root course of this 'problem' is that,as a society, we have developed a lost sense of propriety in everything we do these days! There is no denying that the stretch of area he confines his analysis to,has always been a hustling and bustling area of commercial activity in the metropolis. But he took the trouble to take just a 5-minute drive he the north of SAT and Morocco Shoestore[I am talking about the Methodist Book Depot-Adesheeman Gardens-Mmbrom Castle area to our once beloved African Bungalow Precinct], he would have realized how flawed his 'useful' write-up is,and also found the real underlying causes for the detoriating condition of our major cities,and even some small to mid-size towns like Mampong, Offinso,Ejisu,Bekwai,Obuasi,etc.
The late Batamahene,A.A Owusu`s house is now a worship center,and the street just to the right of the once imposing edifice has become a major thoroughfare for in-bound traffic from Suame to the downtown core. More to the point, the once serene atmosphere,has become a 'mini-ghetto',dotted with all manner of illegal structures. Moving out of the city proper and turning our focus to areas such as KNUST,and its environs,the real gateway to the "Royal City",to enclaves like the Agric Training and Research Facility,where I lived in the early to mid-sixties,to places like Asokwa to Nhyiaeso,where the 'noveaux riches' of Kumasi now live,can we honestly attribute the "mess" and eyesore that is visible all around to to the influx of migrants fleeing "poverty" from the northern part of our country? And would it surprise you to know that,there daily commuters from far away places like Agona,Nkawie,Konongo,Ejura,Efiduase,Juabeng,etc who 'troop' into Kumasi to conduct 'business' including sakawa[particularly the itinerant 'preachers' many of whom live in the sprawling suburbs of Abuakwa,Tafo,Ahenemakokoben and Santasi new site! I have deliberately not mentioned places like Bantama,Tafo Krofurom and Abrepo Junction which have also become 'hell-holes' to live in;and if you examine the issue very closely, you`ll discover that the pressures present in Kumasi,are no different from those you`ll find in places like Accra-Tema Metro area,Sekondi-Takoradi,even up north, in say Tamale!
Personally, I assign a bigger part of the blame to the 'anything-goes' attitude,that has overcome our nation, and has followed us to modern Cosmopolitan centres like New York City, Chicago,London,Paris,Amsterdam, Toronto,Hamburg,Rome,Copenhagen,etc.
So let`s not 'scapegoat' our poor brothers and sisters from the North, who are doing what most of us have done by 'seeking refuge' in far away and distant places from home!
