Azar, Ghana being Ghana, I cannot foresee a situation where any of the exiting 275 MPs will be willing to give up hie or her seat and for it to disappear. For this reason, I am of the view that irrespective of any future population increase, this figure should be maintained. Since Ghana's geographical area (territory) is a constant the only relevant factor for the total number of MPs should be population size (increase and decrease). In future, I suggest that the 275 MPs areredistributed proportionally every ten years (and soon after the census) on regional and constituency basis dependent on population size. This means the number of regional and constituency MPs will change from time to time depending on their populations sizes.
I totally agree with your conclusion in the second part of the article. That is, the President should not initiate a constitutional amendment, it's abuse of process and a dangerous precedent.
