Madam Lamptey is innocent. What she is being accused of is a system failure, the system allows executive accommodation for her office and any move to accommodate her in the absence of her official residence must be approved by government and more so who knows what her salary is if she is entitled to 20% of that for her accommodation.
The whole thing is witchunting,if the system allows its chief executive to rent accommodation befitting the status of that office then she has done no wrong.I dare challenge a forensic auditing of government officials who have been accommodated outside their official residence and lets see whether it will be different from what the lady is accused of.Leave Madam Lauretta Lamptey alone.

Prof, I read your article on Joyonline last Sunday so I stopped reading this after the first paragraph and do hope that you have not updated it.
I disagree with your position that because other public officials have been and are still involved in paying expensive accommodation at the cost of the state, she should not be sanctioned. It's almost tantamount to saying that Ghana should not take actions to stop waste, corruption and mismanagement. You are also playing the "Jesus Christ" mentality of let the one who has no sin throw the first stone at her.
Your response to Abbey's contribution again undermines your arguments. CHRAJ was established as far back as six months on coming into force of the 1992 Constitution and it is the duty of the head of the organisation who also has overall responsibility to establish good and strong fiscal mechanism and not the appointing authority.
Moreover, Ms Lauretta Vivian Lamptey stands accused of receiving her monthly salary without working for it. Did Justice Emile Short also commit such fraud or dishonesty whilst in office?
You posed the question if the CHRAJ boss has been accused of incompetence, being ineffective or mismanagement. The answer is yes. The public are of the view that during the days of Emile Short and Anna Bossman, CHRAJ was visible and proactive on matters of human rights and administrative justice, which is not the case since she took over as head. This is the very woman who claimed CHRAJ cannot do its work effectively because of lack of funds, yet she spent heavily on her personal needs, failed to distribute vehicles that could have been used in the regions and district offices with the flimsy excuse that there were no funds to employ drivers because of an embargo on new staff. Have you asked yourself how many drivers could have been engaged with her one year accommodation cost? What did she use the funds from the Danish government and yet she still complained that there was no funds to do the work. All these in the midst of GYEEDA, SADA, NSS, etc.
I very disappointed with your suggestion that Ms Lamptey should join the NPP. Is it because she can then claim that she is being persecuted because she is a member of NPP as others do in Ghana after committing crimes, whilst those from NDC get away with murder?
Prof, if Ghana is going to be able to deal with corruption, incompetence and mismanagement, then, it must start with Lauretta Lamptey because she was the head of the body that is expected to check such abuses by public officials. This is not witch-hunting and in fact, she should have resigned long ago if she has any conscience or morals.

If professional incompetence is the charge against Ms. Lamptey, the news reports are not showing this aspect of her "crime."
We could make the same arguments about other public officials in equally exorbitant rental accommodation facilities. The Minister of Works and Housing, or whoever is in charge of public property, ought to be sanctioned as well for apparent chronic laxity in the performance of his/her generously salaried duties.
I also don't know that the mere demand for evenhanded justice has anything to do with your so-called Jesus Mentality; as well, I vehemently protest your characterization of Jesus Christ as a promoter and/or condoner of corruption, and wish you would promptly retract the same.
The fact of the matter is that the Commissioner for CHRAJ ought not to be made to double as the Chief Financial Officer and Auditor of the same statutory institution, in much the same way that the Chief Justice is not the Budgetary Officer or Payroll Chief of the Ghana Judicial System.
Kofi, what is so difficult to understand about this?
And yes, I candidly believe that Ms. Lamptey is being selectively persecuted! Were this not the case, President Mahama would not still be at post.
