Frank and truthful contribution.Prayer, prayer, prayer.See where it has left us in Africa. We have become very stupid with this prayer thing. After all these prayer and churches every where we are still so very impoverished.Religion is the major problem in the world today. If poor Africans are told the truth that they can only progress by hard work and using their brain and time wisely instead of going to all night church service and giving their little income to pastors to go and give to God for them, there will be rapid improvement on their standard of living.Religion is the problem today.ISIS, Boko Haram, Al Shabab etc are all religious problems which should not be there.

For the first time I am becoming proud of some bold columnist in this forum. This wonderful piece, though succinct, depicts a deeply thinking bold personality who has the clout and guts to say things as it is without fear or favor. Let those who have ears listen. Thanks Kwaku but next time go easy on those gullible and spiritually blind people who still believe player can cure a kyphotic deformity(eg. hunchbacks) and other deformities alike in this very sophisticated year 2014 AD where the exploits of science and technology are providing solutions to most of the unsolved mysteries that religion has no answers. Is it not written in Luke 10:19 that " Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you"?. Yet we have these same cowards, the so called men of God and pastors, sit at far distances, in the comfort of their their gold plated altars in Accra and Lagos, drink wine from expensive gold and silver plated chalices, rambunctiously shouting and commanding the Holy Spirits to go to Liberia and Nigeria to cure Ebola infected patients who they don't even know. Meanwhile Our scientist and medical health practitioners, who these same men of God,sometimes, chastised as unbelievers, risk their lives against all odds of contracting the virus, go close the these patience, touch them, give them comfort and hope until something good or bad comes the way of those in need. Is this not more godly than what the pastors are doing? Judge for yourself!

Bravo Kwaku! Duncan Williams is taking advantage of his new product called Ebola to sell/get folks to come to his church so he can extort money from them to support his extravagant lifestyle. What man of God complains about many churches near his church if it was not all about protecting his turf? Shouldn't he be happy rather that there are more churches to win hearts to God?If he claims he has faith like Daniel and Jonah then he should have been in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea healing and converting and not sitting in Ghana making noise.4500 and counting souls have perished, so why is he not in the epicenter yet?

I have explained what is wrong with what your pastors are doing with regards to their prayer or offering of anointing oil to heal or stop Ebola. But just so you understand a bit more, if one person in your pastor's church get Ebola and keep praying to get healed, the person will infect many other members. And they will infect others and others. And that's how the current outbreak has become such a global worry. The next person who catches from someone in your pastor's church may be closer to me (or you) than you think. 'Dzi wo fie asem' doesn't work with Ebola, my friend. Let's cut out the emotional subservience to pastors and other religious leaders and let's tell them to get real.

'Prophetess', you see the problem these pastors have created for many of their followers is for people like you to believe that the 'pastors' have power and they do whatever they do by that power. If the Bible that you refer to is anything to go by, it is God who is working through them as vessels. So they are nothing. The Bible talks about God able to prophesy through a Donkey. So why have you people made tin gods of so-called pastors? Why is it that people literally worship these pastors rather than God. You are saying "Ebola is nothing before a man of God". I would have thought you would say that Ebola is nothing before God. But I don't blame you. That's why every billboard has a pastor showing his/her prowess rather than the power of God/Christ that they are supposed to preach. They market themselves instead of God/Christ. But even if you had said Ebola is nothing before God, I would still ask, where was God when the 4,500 people were dying of Ebola? Where were the so-called men of God you refer to? Where were the prophets and prophetesses?

Kwaku Antwi-Biosiako, I think the other KWAKU did not read the article before commenting, otherwise, he would not have made such comments. This Ducan-Williams man is taking advantage of ebola to make some money but sadly, in so doing he would be risking the lives of innocent Ghanaians as you rightly described in the article. In fact, people like Duncan Williams and T B Joshua are dangerous to society. T B Joshua has claimed credit for predicting almost every tragedy in the world, yet, he could not predict what happened in his own backyard to ask the residents to have evacuated in advance in order to avoid death and injury. Fake prophets.

There are doctors, nurses, some local, some foreigners and others on the front line fighting ebola. The US and UK have sent ship loads of supplies and volunteers to help. If our dear African pastors and prophets have any power in them let them leave the comfort of their air-conditioned homes and go and heal the sick. The press is waiting to give them publicity which will swell their intellectually-dwarfed congregation should they perform any of their miracles. Until any of them actually visit ebola patients and heal them, they should just shut up and give us some peace.

K.M., I clearly analysed in my piece how the prayer syndrome could worsen the situation. But if a pastor describes Ebola as 'demonic', can you tell readers which scientific approach you are talking about to deal with a demonic attack? Once you reduce the disease to spiritual attack, you take it out of the scientific realm and that is how your followers will view it. If you're telling them to pray against the disease entering Ghana and praying for those who have it to be healed spiritually, if a member has symptoms and also decides to keep praying to get healed, how would you deal with it? And we are talking about a disease that kills so many so quickly!

Hi Godfred, I do not doubt what God can do, including healing people of Ebola. The question is, why did He not heal the over 4,500 victims who have died? Why hasn't He healed the 1000s who are still infected? Should that not tell us that he has given us the wisdom to manage the crisis ourselves instead of still praying for him to stop it and heal? By the way, do you remember it is written in the Bible that manna used to fall from heaven from the Israelites to eat? Do you know that once it stopped falling they found other means of survival? Well, that's just what we have to learn to do: after 4,500 dead and many more still infected, stop praying and use God-given wisdom to manage the crisis. As simple as that.
