  Alan is in no position to seek concessions from Akuffo Addo after doing so poorly. The Running mate spot is reserved for Bawumia, who sacrificed for the party on the election Petition. The party rewards those who sacrifice for the party. It is that simple. Alan has nothing coming and his future presidential ambition is bleak so far as the NPP is concerned,

  In all honesty, Dr.Bawumia has far more appeal than Alan. In fact, Dr.Bawumia may even be more popular in Ghana today than his own boss. Alan is done, washed up and finished.

  You are sadly underestimating Alan's future in NPP. First off, there are no guarantees that Akufo-Addo would win in 2016, despite the hype.

  You are sadly underestimating Alan's future in NPP. First off, there are no guarantees that Akufo-Addo would win in 2016, despite the hype.
  
  Secondly, should Akufo-Addo win in 2016, the worst that Alan may suffer is staying in Akufo-Addo's neglect for the first 4 years in Akufo-Addo's tenure.
  
  In the first instance, the only reason Akufo-Addo may win in 2016 is because Alan would not choose to be 'the Kumasi Cornerstone' to Nana's ambition. That is to say, Alan and the other leaders in Ashanti that Akufo-Addo's camp insulted so much would not be vindictive to actively keep campaigning against the twice defeated Flagbearer's ambition to become the next President.
  
  I have every reason to believe that Kwadwo Mpiani, Dr. Anane and the rest that Akufo-Addo's camp brazenly assaulted may have been prevailed upon by President Kufuor to let Nana be for now to give the NPP the chance to usurp the NDC from the Administration of the Nation. But I cannot see the asaulted forgiving the gross disrespect they have suffered from the minions of Akufo-Addo's, and would wait for the next opportunity to strike.
  
  You may ask what that opportunity could be. Well, one such opportunity is when Akufo-Addo loses in 2016. That may sound a moot point because he would no more, by age, be eligible to run again. However, there is the natural expectation that should Akufo-Addo lose in 2016 and become personally ineligible for the Presidential race, his camp would try to push some other favorite of theirs, most likely Dr. Bawumia, to the fore. And when that happens, the pent-up vindictiveness among those anti-Akufo-Addo folks would be brought to bear in its fullest to obstruct that candidate from Nana's camp.
  
  Again, if Akufo-Addo wins in 2016, the constrained Mpiani-Anane-Alan group might steadily build a force that could see to Akufo-Addo's one-term Presidency, and claim to have paid any debt Kufuor, the mediator, might have suggested for them to pay Nana, now.
  
  Like you said, NPP cannot afford to lose even 1.0% of its core supporters in the 2016 Elections. So, imagine Mpiani and Dr. Anane or Alan Publicly denouncing Akufo-Addo's Presidential bid even after Nana winning the NPP Presidency. His Presidential ambition would be once, again, only a dream unfulfilled.
  
  If these were malicious they could sabotage Nana in many ways. But I hope they would simply, for the sake of the Party, and in the interest of the many who want the Government to change hands, just stay put.
  
  Alan could keep playing a hearty, dignified loser. But his other offended colleagues could be doing all the gritty work for Akufo-Addo to fail. In that case, Alan could still keep a good enough image to attract a more serious consideration by the larger NPP supporter-base to revive his chances for the Presidency.
  
  On the second point, should Akufo-Addo win in 2016, his second term would not be automatic. His continued tenure would be predicated on his performance in the first term. Then, again, should Akufo-Addo determine to stand aside after the first term, the Presidency would not easily and automatically transfer to Dr. Bawumia for the second term. A vigorous challenge would be posed in filling any vacancy, which could be the VP's or even the full Presidency itself, and Alan could be visibly legible.
  
  By the gross disparaging of Mpiani and many others in Ashanti, the only strand of unity holding majority of NPPs in that Region to the Akufo-Addo is their common desire to unseat Mahama and NDC. But the same fault lines that caused the split of the UNC from PFP has been conspicuously revived. And it would take a huge effort by Akufo-Addo to mend that split. Or, the seams would erupt eventually to offer Alan a better chance in the future.
