  You have touched on a very important point indeed. The western world seems to know Africans more than African themselves.
  
  The western world has seen how Africans, especially Ghanaians treasure those with higher degrees. (Dr. This and Dr. That) have been given all sorts of high profile jobs in businesses and in government even when they lack the background and experience for the sector they are leading. These people therefore come to power with no vision. Any surprise that our businesses and government ministries, department and agencies are in shambles and dying?
  
  These leaders with high degrees feel so invincible that they stop getting their hands dirty and start to feel that they own everything.
  
  The west has noticed this trend amongst the leaders in our country which explains why good people in our society are now been awarded honorary doctorate degrees from some obscure, non-accredited colleges everyday.
  
  Once we start to call these hard working individuals doctors, immediately they transform to be something else. They stop to get their hands dirty on the job and start to believe they can become even the president of the country.
  
  This is why our country is where it is right now. We need more pragmatic people who have demonstrated that they have what it takes to succeed in business and government to be our leaders from their prior contributions to our society. These doctors need to go back into academia and research, two areas that are vital in building the blocks that will help boost our economy instead of coming into areas where they lack the competence to make any meaningful contribution.
  
  The next time someone announces he or she is awarded an honorary doctorate degree, remember, there goes down one of our potential leaders. This is the way to destroy Africa, by getting rid of all the good potential leaders. Without good leaders there will be no vision and without vision the people will definitely perish.
