  Nkrumah never forced workers to go to work when they were on strike.This a total lie.It was rather Busia who sacked workers for going on strike.Please check your history well.I am fortunate to be a living witness of all the strikes that took place under Nkrumah and Busia.I can assure you,the workers were very tough and determined than what we have today.Do you know what is a general strike?On the contrary,Union leaders were arrested most of the time but the strikes continue.I was born in Sekondi where you could find the most power Workers Union,Ghana Railways and Ports,don't joke with them.Nkrumah himself was afraid of their Union leader,Mr Pobee Biney.So my friend,don't say what you don't know.Thank you.

  Please may I know what kind of Doctor you are? Your analysis are, from birth, one sided . As the Doctor that you claim to be, You should at least have the brain that can decipher the differences between Dr. Nkrumah's time and the present, the untold terrorist attacks and attempts to assassinate Dr Nkrumah, by the same person you claim to be the doyen of Ghanaian politics and his cohorts. It's regrettable that he died the way he did but he caused it. I understand those of you who still think that the black man cannot manage his own affairs, but please Dr Nkrumah is not responsible for what you choose to, or not to believe. In fact, from the way you reason, you need someone like Dr. Nkrumah to lead you out of your your psychological negativity and backwardness. Please tell me what kind of Doctor you said you are because I simply find it impossible to believe!

  This is a very myopic write up which exposes the writer intent and political ideology.It would have been better if he had announced loud and clear that he is from the Danquah tradition and that he is a staunch member of the npp and he is only responding to their call to make this country ungovernable through these stupid strike actions.
  
  He may be forgiven for his school boy analysis but for a doctor some of his innuendos point to some one who will prefer to see the fall of this administration at all cost even if at the expense of chaos, instability and disorder which is affecting his judgement.

  While the Doctors may have a legitimate cause to pressure the Government and even threaten to go on strike, I have never believed their going on Strike really helps the Nation and her Citizens any better. We may be asking too ...

  While the Doctors may have a legitimate cause to pressure the Government and even threaten to go on strike, I have never believed their going on Strike really helps the Nation and her Citizens any better. We may be asking too much of them for not expecting them to strike. I agree. But that is what makes the Doctors uniquely essential to our sheer existence, for which we owe them everything, including what the Government may not be able to pay.
  
  Given the very nature of the Doctors' job, I cannot see myself supporting them to go on strike. I would, however, do everything in my little way to add to the pressure on the Government to negotiate in the best of faith with them and honor their demands, provided those demands are not beyond the Government's ability.
  
  When Doctors go on strike, innocent patients die needlessly. By their very oath of service, it becomes a big dilemma for the Doctors when cases like this confront them. They deserve what they have been promised. Period! And any Government that plays on that dilemma to stall on its accord to meet their demands simply does not deserve to rule.
  
  However, given the fact that any life lost as a consequence of the Doctors' strike is irretrievable, I would rather wish that the Doctors completely delete 'strikes' from their options of legal action needed to force the Government into compliance.
  
  If the Doctors' case stands the test of Law, they should not second guess the Judiciary to mete Justice in their favor and compel the Government to comply, even in addition to other peripheral compensations associated with the legal costs. Then, the electorate must also take note of how precariously the recalcitrant Government would toy with their lives and vote it out of Power, thereafter.
  
  Having said all that, I deem the Author's bashing of Nkrumah in this issue as unnecessary and ill-placed. It may sound a typical reactionary Nkrumahist defense but we should let the truth be told.
  
  Furthermore, the Author's claim that it is only under a Government like Nkrumah's where Workers would be forced to go to work, or face dire consequences is a gross mendacity.
  
  In the USA, of all Countries, that serves as a model for Democracy to the Free World, President Reagan did not budge under the pressure of Airline Control Staff demanding better working conditions, and forced them to go to work or lose their jobs. The result of that impasse is the wholesale firing of all the Controllers who failed to comply with President Reagan's order.
  
  Closer home, Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia, our late Prime Minister who the Author may regard as a protege' of Dr. J. B. Danquah, who the Author seems to implicitly adore, fired the striking Civil Servants on his watch, and thumbed his nose at the Court order to reinstate them.
  
  So, it is either for pure opportunistic bashing of Nkrumah and tying the current NDC Administration to him to indicate a certain common malfeasance shared by the two, or out of sheer ignorance that the Author pulled Nkrumah into the issue at stake to denigrate him.
  
  We must retain the freedom to demand what we deserve of the Government. But we must not engage in pure LIES to make a case for our cause.
  
  And Doctor, the word I think you wanted to use is "appease" (versus 'apiece'), somewhere in your piece. Thanks to Dr. SAS for keeping me on my toes to look for such little errors that could misdirect our readers' understanding. I hope you don't mind my pointing that error out.
