  You are preaching to the choir of useless scientists and engineers in the country. If for over five centuries of huge investments in their education, these scientists are unable to apply scientific principles to solve the banal problems you have enumerated, what makes you think that anything will change?
  And how do you blame the "useless" politicians for the uselessness of the scientists and engineers? They were useless from the beginning and will continue to be useless forever. Their self-importance is based on empty air bro.

You see you are part of the useless group of "pseudo-academics" who can only blame some scientists for their own non-performance. All we care for are titles and you are guilty too. And to the writer, what has he done to "bypass" the politician as a scientist? I feel very sad when people supposed to know better speak or write like illiterates. You are in Texas, how many engineers have you seen building cars and computers on their own? Development, both science or non-science takes place when the proper infrastructure and environment exist. If you want to be called a Dr., think like a real doctor.

  This is exactly the problem. Those who ought to know refuse to even acknowledge their own blind ignorance. How can an educated person of any level think like this. For the record Ghanaian scientist are as good as any scientist anywhere. Just as Ghanaian politicians, economists, musicians, farmers everywhere. There is a simple law of nature/survival that says you are only as good or useful as your environment allows you to be.

If you sit down drinking Guinness and eating Banku and tilapia, without working hard in your chosen Engineering field, you will not have a break-through. Break away from that environment shaping people,read and work hard in your Engineering area, and you will be accomplished.

For all you know some of these so-called "useless" ghanaians may be involved. For God's sake learn some manners, and use language worthy of a man who is supposed to be educating young adults for a living.

  Also please do note that it's not only China that has been plagiarizing technology from other countries. "Industrial Espionage" is practiced by all countries, with even the most advanced USA included! Remember that during the 1966 coup the Big C was able to retrieve sophisticated Soviet weaponry that had been supplied only to Nkrumah's Presidential Guard. France is said to have committed the greatest Industrial Espionage in the USA. You never hear about it because the agents who are caught pay a fine and are deported or exchanged for agents from the offended country who have been caught doing the same thing. Technology by any means is a necessary and wise endeavour!
