  Very good points raised Dr Kenedy. Its about planning and inestment. Sweden is soo well vested in WASTE TO ENERGY such that today Sweden is even shot of waste to feed its incinerators thus import waste from neighbouring Norway.

  This is the crux of the matter in that godforsaken country. We can put all the investments and infrastructure in place; we can spend the whole GDP on sanitation, Ghana will be Ghana - filthy and stenchy. Sanitation and cleanliness must be a curriculum in our schools - it must be taught and practiced in our schools.
  
  It has often been said that black people (Africans) are dirty and filthy. Who can argue with that? Filth is in our DNA, and it is through intensive and regimental education that we can disinfect ourselves with filth. Every other approach is cosmetic!!!

  I agree with most of your points. Cleanliness and the riddance of garbage must start from the neighborhoods.
  
  As much as agree that the government must play a major part, the mind set of Ghanaians is nauseating. Both men and women pee any corner or place they can find in any major city, town or village. We need mass education.
  
  I grew up in the early 50s and 60s in Kumasi. It was called "Garden City" during my time. Why? Most parts of the city was clean. The neighborhood "tankesi" (town enforcement officer) will ticket an individual or homeowner if trash or weeds were collected around the house or neighborhood.
  
  Ghana is a "filthy" nation. The stench in some neighborhoods is unbearable. When I visit my own city of Takoradi you can't stand the smell at the Market Circle. There is so much garbage, cars & pedestrians can't maneuver around the area.
  
  The government does not tell us to dump garbage in the gutters or undeveloped areas. But we do. You see a big lettered sign that states "Do Not Throw Garbage". But what is the spectacle? A heap of garbage and sometimes human excrement in black polythene bags.
  
  We are a sad nation and we brag about being a middle class country.

  Now i am very sure that Ghanaians need a "Mental Clean Up" before they can start talking sense.
  As for its frequency i am sure it will depend on the individual.
