  My sentiments exactly. My only disagreement is to recognise the AU as better than the erstwhile OAU. It was just a change of name without change in content. President Mahama is an apology of a West African Leader because he should have cautioned Campoare about his illegitimate rule long ago Nd not wait for the events that have unfolded before issuing statements. Is he talking to and advising Faure Gnassingbe, Yahaya Jammeh, the Presidents of Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea etc? If not I join in prayer with several thousands of people who will lead a peoples revolution to oust these autocratic governments. Beyond West Africa, the situation is worse with Mugabe, King Mswati, etc doing the same. Time for an African summer when we will pour our anger out.

I am a french speaking country citizen, so excuse the quality of my english. eyadema rules togo like a private business during 38 years. when he died, the military installed his son. both of them are totalizing 47 years. how is this possible in republic?
  eduardo dos santos of angola and obiang nguema of equatorial guinea are presidents since 1979. mugabe, biya and el bashir too. if people of these countries topple them, you would hear au warning. something must change in africa.what is the utility of african union and ecowas for ordinary citizens?

  "The AU ought to be fully equippped with a state-of-the-art military arm and be prepared to undertake the salutary project of thoroughly ridding the continent and its island countries of each and every governance apparatus that stands in flagrant and criminal contravention of the civilized and democratic tenets and principles that make the AU worthy of its institutional designation."
  Well! Well! Well! The above statement by Mr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe reminds me of why Nkrumah Never Dies. This man who thinks he is a scholar on Nkrumaism but disparages his name for own political interest, has actually stolen one of the main tenets for the founding of the Organization of African Unity and used it as if it is his original idea. The idea in question was envisaged by none other than the Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. It was called the African High Command. I can understand NPP under Akuffo-Addo trying to steal Nkrumah's "Fee-free" educational policy to boost his political chances but I cannot understand where Okoampa-Ahoofe is going with his. Unless Okoampa-Ahoofe has changed overnight, I don't see how he thinks he can get away with stealing Nkrumah's ideas with the millions of Nkrumaists watching. He can put it in so many words but it was put simply by President Kwame Nkrumah as the African High Command and that is why according to the late Frantz Wullf-Tagoe,"Kwame Nkrumah gave of himself as freely as one would pour water from a cup, and that is why he can never die in the hearts and minds of conscious Africans everywhere." The African High Command was one of his blueprints he left freely for Africans to implement.
