The problems we face in Ghana are multi faceted but every solution offered by you Franklin and other Ghanaians here at home and in the diaspora have had disastrous results because your remedies and offerings reveal a lack of understanding and the requisite comprehensive thought processes that must be mustered to bring about successful resolutions.
Let me offer a couple of suggestions to you Franklin to enlighten you on the differences between progressive solutions and the never learn from past mistakes approach that seems to be the order of the day in Ghana. Starting from the time of J. J. Rawlings Ghana is known to have problems with sustained electricity, roads, telecommunications and drainage infrastructures and residential facilities for the Ghanaian people. Instead of you and others yapping like mad dogs at every administration you should set markers that would render judgment based on just one project of government that has the most economic, social and return on investment for Ghanaians. For instance, if J. J. Rawlings had spent his entire 15+years in office to ensure there was a robust and sustainable distribution of electricity to every hamlet, town, city and metro areas in Ghana it would have been Ghana's equivalent of America's GI bill. With uninterrupted electricity private businesses could grow. Instead you and others were into those superficial side shows that made people feel good while the rot continued from within. Kufour could have spent his 8-years in office either solving Ghana's telecommunications and sewage infrastructure issues or housing issue nothing more and nothing less. Instead without electricity, the Oxford educated Kufour decided to rid the government of any meaningful and tangible assets because that was what he learned from his colonial masters even while he failed to ask why the UK government still hold on to assets of every conceivable kind. So the best the lapdog Kufour could do is introduce projects and programs that were bound to be popular with a voting public that has not seen anything for free they will resist even when it is bound to cost them the very shirts on their backs. What did Ghana get out of the school feeding program, NYEP scam, the sale of government assets and a Vodafone deal that gives Ghana less than a million dollars a year in revenue even as Vodafone continue to rape Ghana like they do in every region of the world they have operations?
Guess what Franklin, with two of the three major problems out of the way we could judge the current administration on the one thing left, roads. Instead Ghana continues to have problems with electricity, roads, sewage and telecommunications infrastructure shortage and governments continue to dip in public employee pension funds to supplement revenue shortfalls. By the way use of public pension funds by government happens even in the USA where social security funds are used by government and replaced with IOU notes.
IMANI and other "thin" tanks must have new constructs and stop the old line of thinking and evaluative processes that have failed us and will continue to fail us.
