Even North Korea that comes close now allows individuals to operate private transportation and selling their farm products for profit.

In some of the so called Socialist countries you have listed with free medical care, Foreigners without papers cannot access medical care but in USA people without health insurance including illegal immigrants could get Emergency treatment even at the Private hospitals without being asked about the lmmigration status and can even get some of the most expensive tests at the laboratory at county hospitals like Cook Hospital in Chicago, John Peter Smith in Fort Worth, Texas, Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas where President Kennedy died.

Strong partisanship started in Ghana when Kwame Nkrumah divided the nation into patriots and traitors. Patriots were those who accepted that he should be president for life, practice one party state and communism and indulge in leftist anti-Western propaganda using the small country's meager resources to challenge centuries' old, well-established Western countries. They even accepted that he should act as savior of the Blackman around the world, while tyrannizing his own Black people at home because they had alternative views for development of their country.
Those who wanted him to concentrate more on basic needs of the young nation and tone down his rhetoric against the powerful were called traitors, reactionaries, and agents of imperialism that should be liquidated and imprisoned dead or alive. Could you believe that the opposition members he was tyrannizing were the very people who started the struggle for our independence? They employed Nkrumah and paid for his ticket from the UK to come and work as general secretary of the group, saving him from the tyranny of unemployment in London. The independence struggle vanguards were senior civil servants in the Gold Coast. And as their struggle was gaining momentum and scope of their activities widening, they needed someone to work full-time for the group; free from official work constrains to further spread message of the struggle.
Under their responsibility and protection, Nkrumah used the platform to become public face of the group and his popularity soared. This was because; many of the people in those days could not differentiate between the spokesperson and the leaders, and therefore, saw him as the person or the only person that was fighting for our independence. Subsequently, when he heard from the Governor General's female secretary, who was later sacked, that the British had been preparing to grant us independence, he increasingly used needless militant tactics to provoke the Whiteman, when it was clear that the wind of change was blowing, and also embarrass his employers in order to outfox them. He then used the opportunity to break away from the group, forming his own party and slapping them from behind to take power.
This explains the strong partisanship in the country and why Nkrumah didn't want the Liberation Vanguards to ever come to power in his life time. Maybe he was afraid of his own ghost or because of his red sickle communist tendencies. Unfortunately, and despite all these plain facts, his supporters still want us to believe that he initiated, spearheaded and single handedly fought for our independence, and name every national project after him as if we were in a kingdom.

You make the plans and achievements sound so real and smooth. This is admirable and I like the way you give credit to a host of Ghanaian leaders.
However you will agree that youth employment will depend first of all on good sound educational foundations. Our current educational foundation infrastructure (like the plans you highlighted) look good on paper but are in fact, very week, so are the University standards in Kumasi and Tamale that you make reference to, particularly in Tamale where the faculty structures are still very week and require good, tough leadership and freedom from 'tribal bickering' and interference in its affairs to thrive.
I agree our tax collection structures need to be strengthened and perhaps the youth you refer to, can be trained e.g. National Service personnel, to be involved in tax collection in addition to effective electronic monitoring systems, with punitive measures for those who fail to pay their due.
You will also agree that what you suggest as solutions are merely the tip of the iceberg, and that much more needs to be, and can be done across sectors including boosting agriculture mechanization, production and food distribution, storage and product development and diversification especially for those items prone to spoilage.
I like and support your article and hope the pubic can see what you ae driving at in our dialogue instead of the usual partisan and 'unhelpful' comments that characterize people's reactions to such brilliant articles.

Selfish and corrupt to the core, who put their personal and party interests before those of the nation and the ordinary Ghanaians. The civil service, the police are all corrupted. You cannot get a letter signed by a civil servant without being asked to put a stuffed envelope on the table. You import an over-aged vehicle , which runs perfectly than 80% of the cars in Ghana and they want you to pay 56,000 GHS import duty and when you are not able to pay it, they sell it to their cronies for a mere 2,000GHS. In my case I lost a 14 year old S420 (1994) bulletproof Mercedes Benz in perfect condition with only 43,000 miles in 2009,which was only 4 years beyond the 10-year 0ld limit, but in perfect condition with no prior accidents on it to the government (The sole owner simply did not use it that much), only to be sold to one of their cronies for less than 4,000GHS. If they had asked me to pay half of the 40,000GHC they were asking me to pay half of that amount, 20,000GHS could have gone into Government coffers instead of 4,000GHS. Can't our governments allow Ghanaians abroad a one time low-penalty to bring in over-aged cars - maximum of 5 years over the 10-year limit, with perfect conditions, with a mileage of under 100 thousand miles to be brought in by Ghanaians who together remit over 2 billion dollars in-flows into the economy? In all these cases, they continue to allow 30-year old vehicles with everything worn out to continue to ply our roads. What is the logic, except for corrupt practices?
