  In my opinion this piece of writing is the best thing that ever happened to this website. This is wisdom for all mothers and mothers in waiting.
  Early childhood education is much acknowledged and more clearly understood especially among caucasian families and much of the developed world and may largely account for the yawning developmental gap between the developed and developing worlds. Most parents in the developing world especially among the black race believe babies including the unborn are incapable of learning or are slow learners therefore unteachable.As a result, we unwisely postpone the teaching of children for a few years if we'll ever teach at all. Those neglected and lost early years are the most relevant in childhood growth and development. This gross negligence is unacceptable and inexcusable and to me, it's equally as prohibitive as child molestation.
  The missed teaching and learning opportunities give the young child a slow start in life that may retard and adversely affect critical thinking, innovation and problem solving capabilities throughout the entire lifetime.
  A baby's brain is brand new and unused and it's more suitable and adaptable to learning than an adult's tired and ageing brain. It's said that about 70 per cent of all the learning in a person's life is acquired between 0-17 years. Research and experience confirm that the earliest time to begin teaching the child is when it's still developing in the mother's womb. Music especially classical music is said to be very good for the unborn child's brain development. Sing to your unborn child and often speak words of wisdom that instruct and edify the babe.
  During the child's formative years most of the learning is acquired from what's taught at home. Home is the first informal school.
  Beware of what you say and do before a child because parents more than anybody else is the child's role model. Teach them through precept and example whatever you want them to know and if you fail in this sacred responsibility your children will be taught by others what you don't want them to know. Never gossip, slander, use profanity/swear words or lie to the child or in the child's presence. There's no excuse for not teaching the children all they need to know from the parent to give them a head-start in life. Let none deceive themself with the mundane thought that success in personal life does compensate for failure in the home/family. The newborn's first and most effective teacher is the parent . This sacred responsibility we can not and must not sublet or delegate to another. It's time to begin the too often neglected job of teaching, instructing, guiding and walking beside our own children so they will walk head up, wide open eyes, clear minds , gentle hearts and hands that work tirelessly and honestly to lift self and others.
