  Hmmm, young woman, those days never really existed - at least not in the ways you may be thinking. Things were different, sure, but not necessarily better. It is the tendency of the old to look with longing (nostalgia) on the "good old days". There were many things in those old days that you won't want today at all, Bernice. There was suffering too...
  
  But the most difficult years our country went through are those starting in the latter part of the Acheampong regime, through all the other regimes and the first part of Rawlings' rule - when you were born.
  
  Well, they say change is the only constant thing in life. We cannot escape it but an essential part of change is that it is both for the better and for the worse.
  
  One thing I can say is that the changes that our country has gone through should really have made us a lot better than we are now. So the balance? I say it can be better than it is now.

Ghana is gradually becoming unbecoming. at times when I read from ghanaweb I bowed down my head with shame. the types of insults on our President and our elders huh! hmmmm. thank you very much. trust me I am in Sierra Leone and when I compare Ghana to this country I can tell you for the fact that we are blessed. I have been told that in 70s and 80s Ghanaians were in this country baking bread and also teaching at schools for their survival. now the case is not the same. indeed most of Ghanaian ideas as regards to our governmental administration set is been copied by our brothers here still we open our mouth and insult and say a lot of negative things about our beloved country called Ghana. we shouldn't forget that our president is the head of ECOWAS and that irrespective of our political affiliations we have to give him respect. I wish all those visiting ghanaweb will read your article. God bless you again. I was born in late 70s at Nkoranza in the Brong Ahafo Region and I remember when those days as a kid playing football with friends anytime we see big person I mean an elderly coming from farm carrying load we abandoned the game rush to take the load and carry it to the house. now what is happening is that when kids seed an adult in a similar situation they do not even stop to play rather they play and hit the elderly with ball without an apology. hmmmmmmmmm. GONE ARE THE DAYS indeed.

  i am in US now and our ghanaian language makes us proud cos thats the only thn Nobody can take from us. but even some have thrown it away and nw speakn only english. may God help Ghana and Bless you too.

  But the emancipation of the Girl/Woman, is more important. It should be a "core" development value in the 21st Century.
